Next Up: Pangkalan Jati, Sunday 5th October

recent PJ attendances

recent PJ attendances

There is no doubting that Pangkalan Jati evokes strong opinions in many Tee Setters, with most appreciating its virtues which include a far greater range of golfing challenges than most, a relatively early start at 10:30, a reasonable journey time if you manage to avoid the joys of the Sunday market on Fatmawati, cheap soft drinks and beer and very decent food reasonably priced. On the other hand some just plain dislike it.

Last time out was certainly a great day at our former and long time home course with numbers swelled a little to 47 in anticipation of the President of Some Things BBQ in Kemang in the evening,

Pangkalan Jati

Whatever the case, PJ can certainly pull in decent numbers and we imagine that will be the case on Sunday with 25 already signed up for it.

Let us know in the usual place if you intend playing but haven’t told us yet. Green fees will be a modest 525,000 including cart or 435,000 walking. Bear in mind it is likely to be very hot when making your decision as to which.

See ya at PJ !!! … Tee Set

Palm Hills, 28th September 2014

water ballsThe Day

The evidence, though hardly needed ....

The evidence, though hardly needed ….

While 41 Tee Setters were to arrive in good time to enjoy a Palm Hills course in great condition, apart from a sand shortage in many bunkers, the last and 42nd, Wina, managed to arrive a startling 45 minutes after the official tee time, impressive even by her own high standards in this respect but still managed to find a flight that had not tee’d off yet! We reckon she must radio ahead to the starter before leaving home.

Lots of renovations and additions to the clubhouse infrastructure and all apparently being funded by beer sales. At Rp65K a can it has to be the most ridiculous price of any course in Jakarta. We would mind less if they spent some of their ill-gotten proceeds on a few lorry loads of sand.

Your scribe noted that many players, having received due warning, had sensibly taken “mitigating action” 🙂

Newcomers and Welcome BacksTwo Newcomers in Aditya Chitharanjan and Victor Delannoy and plenty of Welcome Back players headed by Robert Humberson at 53 weeks and Mel “Cross Dresser” Canteralla. Great to see them all.

Bob is working at getting a realistic handicap but just 7 games in 2 years and only 2 for 2014 is making it rather difficult however. He can of course play in the Tee Set Championship event but needs another 3 outings to qualify for the Championship crown itself on November 30th.

With secretary Brenda out-of-town, webmaster Keith took over registration and result data input duties and finished looking none the worse for wear. As he designed the database and wrote the associated programmes this came as little surprise. Nevertheless. please hurry back Brenda, we miss you – and Keith more than anyone 🙂

Splendid Ryder Cup event at Fez after the game with 10 Tee Setters and many partners showing up to support their favoured side. They were to be rewarded with a high quality Footjoy Ryder Cup Shirt, a sleeve of Pro-V1s, free flow Bintang, exquisite food courtesy of the best Indian Resto in Jakarta – and some quite sublime golf in the company of their fellow Tee Setters.

Well done Europe for taking it to the Americans once again. Next time, Messrs Runyon and Baglivo!!

The Play

Skill Prizes

Show me the moneyCraig Ewers took full advantage, and more, of a handicap of 22 that looks well overdue for review to take the day’s biggest prize. the Monthly Medal and the Slaney’s Meat voucher.

A Santi Miller fast returning to form took advantage of the absence of the Galacticos at the Star Deli event to win Low Gross with an 83 off the stick while Mel Canterella’s 43 handicap proved enough for him to secure Low Net with a 67!

Santi's PiesPeter Bush on the other hand took advantage of the dry conditions, and got plenty of roll on the Long Drive hole, #11, to win the category while Nearest to the Pin was KK with 5m from the pin to take the money and six of Santi’s Premium Pies finest and was probably the only player to hit a long and very difficult green.

The Jelineks remunerative run at 1st Par for HC >= 30 continued, with Jan doing the business this week at his 8th hole as played while Steve Harper took Most Improved with 9 shot improvement on his back 9.

The Immediate Past President found the apron on so many holes that Low Putts was firmly in his bag with an extraordinarily low 24 putts.

Booby Prizes

Martin B skirtMartin Blobner kept his Skirt ratio at a perfect 100% after 3 outings; this is the sort of record that the watching but hitherto long absent “Cross Dressing Queen”, Mel Canterella, would be proud of.

Martin also took a share of Monster Putter with Newcomer Victor Delannoy while Steve Harper celebrated a return to Tee Set action after an 18 week absence with a handy 12 to take Most Strokes on a hole but still finished ahead on the day.

Fuller, player by player details can be found here.

2014 Tee Set Championship

We hope that all know by now that the Championship will be held at Matoa on 30th November with a rather challenging Shotgun Start from 14 holes at 7:30.

Anyone who has played 5 or more times this year should already have received an e-mail inviting them to participate in the event and giving them until 10th October to preferentially register.

If you think you qualify on that criteria and haven’t received the invitation then drop us a line.

BWA Pink Golf Day

A chance to support the British Women’s Association and its supported causes, and have a lot of fun, on Wednesday 8th October when the BWA are holding their annual Pink Golf Texas Scramble. Play yourself or get a team together and register to join in.

Next Up:

A relatively swift return to the charms of Pangkalan Jati on Sunday where a good turnout can be expected as usual on a course with many fans, a few detractors, cheap beer and very decent food. Get registered here for what is always an enjoyable day at our former headquarters.

Tee off will be from 1 & 10 at 11:30 – a time that is likely to be advanced somewhat, so get there in good time please Wina – and everyone else …

See yah at PJ!! … Tee Set

Next Up: Palm Hills, Sunday 28th September 2014

palmhillPlenty of Tee Setters already signed up for the round on Sunday at the ever popular Palm Hills, a round that in addition to all the usual fun will also be the September Monthly Medal for this month only.

Special prizes for Stableford winner, Long drive and Nearest the Pin etc thanks to support from our loyal sponsors, Slaney Meats, Santi’s Premium Pies and Cecelia’s Cafe.

Matoa, our usual Monthly Medal venue has a huge tournament on so we didn’t want to compete for turf with that lot and of course we got an offer from Palm Hills that simply could not be refused, 608,ooo (note change) including cart and an 11:30 start off 1 and 10.

Ever popular? … “easy to say”, I hear you say, “where is the evidence?, – here’s a few statistics:

Palm Hills

And those numbers make Palm Hills Tee Set’s second most popular course, excluding the Monthly Medal venues, after Rancamaya.

No brainer then, Palm Hills here we come, sign up here is you have not done so already.

Ryder Cup FlyerIf you are keen to make it a full golfing day then come and join the Tee Setters already signed up for the Ryder Cup event at Fez in Kemang when a live feed will be available on umpteen big screens.

To ensure you don’t die of hunger or thirst during the event, the entry fee of 300,000 roops provides you with the usual high-class buffet from Fez, free flow beer from 6:30 until 9;00 and door prizes galore. For every Tee Setter who attends there is also their own personal gift of a sleeve of Pro V1s to make this the day’s second no brainer.

Should be a fantastic evening watching the closing stages on Sunday with your golfing mates – with some of them no doubt supporting the opposition. The Aussies and Kiwis will doubtless be looking on with delight at the agonies and ecstasies of the rest of us as the drama unfolds.

If you haven’t already, then drop Keith a line if you are coming in order to make sure you have no problems getting your sleeve of balls.

See ya at Palm Hills, let’s have another great Tee Set Sunday in the Sun.

Jagorawi New Course, Sunday 21st September

Playing for who? ... Tee Setters play for many more teams besides Tee Set !!

Playing for who? … Tee Setters play for many more teams besides Tee Set !!

The Day

A very decent turnout for Jagorawi of 29 Tee Setters and this despite the absence of the entire committee engaged on various wedding duties. That their absence was is in any way connected with the Interleague’s finest win for years, a 10-0 against Sentul Swingers is clearly a scurrilous and unsubstantiated rumour 🙂

Hot and a little cloudy throughout the round which along with a course in fine shape made for ideal playing conditions and everyone getting round in five hours or less meant that we were able to look at the huge late afternoon downpours under cover in the restaurant as we downed our food and drink and boogied along with the Band from Bandung.

tettyA fantastic personal golfing milestone for Tetty as she gets a hole-in-one at the New Course’s par three second hole – and was unable to get rid of a broad grin all day! Well done Tetty, great stuff.

Newcomers

Two Newcomers to welcome this week in the shape of Craig Nygerin and Hale Ellis. Craig had something of a torrid time as you will discover – but it will get better by playing lots of Tee Set, Craig!

A warm welcome to them both.

Some rather more substantial Welcome Backs this week than of late with the Brautis, Yati and Arvied, at 40+ weeks, with Yati not having been seen since the 2014 Tee Set Championship.

Welcome back to all, where have you been?!?!?

the old crooner

Due to finishing as early as 2.30 pm, the crowds for the usual Geoff “Centurion” Thwaites’ birthday were less massive than usual, however, those many who remained saw this as no more than an opportunity to drink and sing more, none more enthusiastically than that old crooner Craig Ewers, who was even more boisterous than usual following his participation in the Interleague win!

The PlaySkill

A five under par 67 from Jason Vanderlinde saw him entering the winners circle for the first time for Low Net while it didn’t take Sam Westen too get back to winning ways with a Low Gross of just 74 off the stick on what can be a murderous course.

jagsNewcomer Hale Ellis settled in quickly with a 1st Birdie award on his first ever hole played with Tee Set!

Chris Lever also didn’t hang around in securing 1st Sandy on his very first hole played while On Shenman secured Most Improved by 8 strokes and Jaco Zaayman is getting used to pocketing 1st Par for Handicap >= 30

boobies

On Shenman had to dig into her Most Improved winnings to fund her 41 putts while Craige Nygrin picked up a skirt first time out and Most Strokes on a hole to go with it 😦

That Craige should be the only one in a field of 29 to pick up a Skirt fine on a notoriously narrow and demanding course will take some explaining to the Immediate Past President of Most Things upon his return from wedding duties in Semarang or wherever it was.

More detailed results of the day’s play here while a whole bunch of photos can be found on the Tee Set Gallery.

Interleague

Interleague

As you will have divined from the introduction, our Interleague boys did us proud against Sentul Swingers in achieving a clean sweep, 10-0.

Happily, the best Tee Set result in years and one which puts us in a position to finish second in the League – which would also be our best for years.

Well done all, some marvelous personal performances from which the team was to benefit greatly.

It is good to be able to hold our heads up high again !!

Next Up

One of the Tee Setters most popular courses is of course Palm Hills and, next Sunday, we have a welcome return there for the first time since early August/ Palm Hills is also very popular with the Treasurer as he can almost certainly rely upon a healthy quota of players to fill his coffers with Skirt fines, unlike Jagorawi today 😦

Palm Hills is now a no-walking course though green fees of just 525,000 including cart help explain part of its popularity.

Tee off from 1 & 10 at 11:30 and we may even get away a little early so don’t cut it too fine – and register here as usual.

Ryder Cup 2014 – an invitation to Tee Setters

Ryder Cup Flyer

Thursday sees the start of the inimitable Ryder Cup event at Gleneagles in Scotland with the European team looking to extend their winning run against a highly talented USA team.

The event will be available live on more big screens than you can shake a stick at Fez in Kemang after Tee Set next Sunday.

If you fancy watching the final day’s action unfold in what should be a great atmosphere – and enjoy a buffet dinner, free flow beer from 6.30pm until 9.30pm and some great door prizes then, if you send your scribe a confirmatory e-mail, as a Tee Set member you will also get a free sleeve of Pro V1s.

Incidentally, while attendance at the golf earlier is not a pre-requisite, being a Tee Set member is to get that free sleeve. The offer is however restricted to the first 26 Tee Setters who register so don’t hang around!

See ya at Palm Hill !! …. Tee Set

Jagorawi New Course, Sunday 21st September 2014

Sam and Nicky

Nail biting stuff at Jags on Sunday as our Interleague team take on Sentul Swingers and attempt to put us on the road to a 2nd place finish to the season, a result which would be our best for some years. Good luck boys and girls!

Green fees of 955,000 with shared buggy reflect the quality of the course and facilities. Tee off at 9:30.

the-birthday-boy

All the usual fun of the usual Tee Set Sunday too of course – and happily compounded by one of those not-to-be-missed annual events as one of Tee Set’s longest-serving members and former President, Geoff Thwaites, at the risk of being bitten by moths, gets out his wallet to put on post-match beers, some great food and of course the famous “Band From Bandung” to celebrate his 100th birthday (eh? – ED).

Last year was a riot and saw a long procession of Tee Setters and others display unsuspected singing and many “other” talents. It is NOT compulsory however, sitting back and enjoying the fun, just like your scribe, is permissible!

Even if you can’t play for whatever reason you are still welcome to come along at around 5 pm and join in celebrating the old guy clocking up another one!

Whether you are playing in the Interleague or just normal Tee Set Sunday then remember to sign up here if you haven’t done so already.

See ya at Jags!!! … Tee Set

Gunung Geulis, Sunday 14th September 2014

Absolutely no comment on this one!!

Surely it should say toilet cleaners!!

The Day

After a lazy breakfast in Cecilia’s Café, the committee and secretary headed down a quiet Jl Ampera towards the toll. All looked good until the Puncak turn off was reached where a dozen of Jakarta’s finest waved us on.

George Bevage pulled out his electronic Google Maps and directed the driver to the next place to turn left, which was at the Ciawi lights. Once we had  squeezed past the triple parked angkots it was plan sailing and the club house was reached with a total trip time of 1 hour 15 minutes. Not bad considering the rather long distance from the centre of Kemang and the brainless angkot drivers of Ciawi.

Some others were not so fortunate with Chris Lever giving up the ghost after having been in a taxi for two hours from Country Woods and the turnout for the day was a rather disappointing 19.

Welcome backs

Remarkably, a week without any Newcomers to welcome and a very unimpressive cast of Welcome Backs in terms of numbers and length of absence with field leader, Rick Zacker, coming in with a rather miserable 5 weeks!

The President’s tee off from tee box one rates a mention. Still winding down from a very heavy bachelor’s event at Rainbow two days before, his very first swing of the day sent the ball soaring into the stratosphere only for it to return to earth not more than 20 feet in front of the blue tees and certainly not far enough to pass the ladies tee. First blood to the treasurer who was in the same flight rubbing his hands in glee.

Also in the same flight and not to be outdone by the President’s fine effort, George Bevege on the very next hole went for the big heave-ho only to connect with a tree in the middle of the fairway.

No problem thinks George and spends the next 10 minutes searching fruitlessly around the tree (sic) for his ball only to be told very timidly by his caddy that there was a ball 100m back down the hill towards the tee box.

So it turned out that George’s 52 degree wedge would have got him further than his driver. All a bit of a laugh but George, being a master of recovery, still managed to bogey the hole.

Geoff raises a glassThe apres golf was more than the prize giving this week as Geoff Thwaites invited all present to raised a glass to toast President Reichlmeier’s forthcoming wedding and the couple’s future happiness and health. All the best for your big day from us all, Peter.

The Play

Skill

Jaco

Jaco Zaayman proved once again that shooting at or close to your handicap, no matter how big it is, can bring rewards with another Low Net win today.

Despite the close encounter with a tree described above, “Pulpy” Bevage managed to prise Simon Reynolds fingers off the Low Gross prize for once

Peter Bush has been on fire recently but had to content himself with just 1st Birdie today while Neil Mullins didn’t hang around in winning 1st Sandy, managing it on his very first hole played.
Boobies

Skirt 1A bad week for Hossam Elwakil as he took a Skirt to go with his Monster Putter award. Thanks for the contributions Hossam!!

As noted previously, Hossam was joined in the Cross Dressers Circle by the President of Somethings – and a Jan Jelinek for whom it is just an old friend dropping by. Jan also managed the double with a Most Strokes of 12!

Fuller, player by player results here while more photos of a fine day can be found on the Tee Set Gallery.

Next Up

We are looking for a good turn out this Sunday in support of the 6th round of Interleague. Up against Sentul Swingers who are looking to recover some pride after a slow start while Tee Set looks to maintain its current momentum and stay in contention for second place overall.

Green fees of 955,000 with shared buggy reflect the quality of the course and facilities. Tee off at 9:30.

Whether you are playing in the Interleague or just normal Tee Set Sunday then remember to sign up here.

After the round is over it is Geoff Thwaites birthday bash Part Deux which, if last year’s Part Un is anything to go by, should be a riot and not to be missed.

Finally, congratulations also to Brenda who celebrates one year as the Tee Set secretary on Sunday – and what a fine job she has done thus far. Many thanks Brenda for your support of Tee Set, we need it!!

Bogor - Gunung Geulis West 3Another top 6 course on the menu this week with a visit to that lovely piece of mountain greenery, Gunung Geulis. Strange to relate it is more than a year since we last visited, surely a stain on the record of the fixtures committee.

12 midday start from 2 tee boxes on the West Course with green fees of around 650,000 including shared cart. If you haven’t already then get signed up here.

Padang Golf Modern, 7th September 2014

ShotgunThe Day

That very presentable (and notorious) West Jakarta course, Padang  Modern Golf, last had the pleasure of Tee Setters for company on the 5th January 2014, in our very first event of the year.

With the new toll road now joining Serpong to Cengkarang, it was thought, optimistically as it turned out, that travel time from the Southern regions of Jakarta to and from Modern might very well be reduced, however, going there was pretty much as usual while coming back was painful no matter which route was taken.

Our band of 38 Tee Set optimists duly arrived to be greeted by signs everywhere confirming our 12:30 shot-gun start, the only trouble being that half of Jakarta appeared to be in the same shot-gun. It was looking very grim with the starter starting to put 3 groups on some tee boxes and heavy clouds threatening a wet start.

Remarkably, the clouds failed  to unload and the shot-gun start got away beautifully and the result was a great fun round completed in a maximum of 4.75 hours.

We remain puzzled as to how the started pulled this off, particularly in the light of so many groups of our friends from the land of the rising sun still milling about and looking far from organised as Tee Setters were heading out for the 12.30 start. It had all the makings of a disaster, however, the starter pulled it off without hiccup, the man is undoubtedly a magician ad deserving of his modest Tee Set tip.

Welcome backsNo Newcomers this week but some huge welcomes back with a past Tee Set favorite son, OB (Oddbjorn Faugstad,) taking the honors at a homegenous 222 weeks. Great to see you back OB even if only for a fleeting visit.

Joe Peries also come out to visit us, this time after a 35 week absence (coincidentally last played at Modern on the 5th January!!), big welcome backs also to Paul and Carolyn Taylor (12 weeks and 15 weeks respectively) as well as Harry Hill at 13 weeks.

The Tee Set friendly Modern course was in pretty good shape while the staff on the course and in the club house were friendly and efficient, the food and service really was of a high standard and their non-cash system works so well that it is a model for others in the area to follow. Tee Setters do not like having to put their hand in their pockets every time they order a bag of salted peanuts.

Efficient staff

Wina “nick of time” Nugraha did in fact make the shot-gun start even though she had yet hove into view as the rest of headed out to our respective tee boxes. Pieter Neilson-Groen was not quite so fortunate – we can only assume Pieter gave up and went home after several increasingly frustrated calls to say he was on the way; but lost 😦

The Play

Prizes

Low NetHossam Elwakil broke through for his first ever win with a stunning net 64. Enjoy it while you can Hossam, the handicap police will ensure this will be an extraordinarily difficult task to perform on a regular basis.

Simon Reynolds continued his purple patch of great golf shooting 74 off the stick to take low gross. Anyone know where Sam is?!?!

The ever consistent Mr Joseph Peries took low putts with 25 waves of the short stick.

On the subject of putting, George Bevege was seen attempting to master a full length, under the chin putter, through his entire round, though did manage to take First (a sandy!!) Birdie.

Harry Hill took First Sandy on hole 3, well done Harry, while Tom Alcedo has now taken out a mortgage out on the basis of regularly winning First par over 30, this time it was on hole 9.

Due more to an extraordinarily bad golf on his first 9 Peter Rancamaya took most improved with an equally extraordinary 16 strokes.

Booby prizes

Tom

Tom Alcedo proving that what the Lord giveth, the Lord can taketh away …

The treasurer was probably the only one not smiling at the end of this great day, with only the one skirt, thanks to Tom Alcedo (easy come, easy go, hey Tom?).

With Low Putts at just 37 blows, some uncharacteristic mercy meant no fines were collected so the only other one to contribute to Tee Set coffers today was Cucu, unlucky to get off track with 11 strokes on one hole.

Fuller, player by player results here while more photos of a great day can be found on the Tee Set Gallery.

2014 Tee Set Matchplay Championhip

We are now coming to the pointy end of the 2014 match play competition with 3 more matches decided on the weekend

Bruce Hector defeated Geoff Thwaites 4 and 3

David Baglivo defeated Peter Reichlmeier 4 and 3

Peter Bush defeated Craig Ewers 6 and 5

Rumour has it that Tom Alcedo defeated Anthony King during the week, big scalp there Tom if so. We now have something like 2 matches left in each bracket before the final. Fernando will be sending out the updated graphic later this week. Inschallah.

Next Up

The delights of Gunung Geulis await us on Sunday and, whichever one of its two great courses we are allocated to, it is sure to be a great treat in the mountains. Get signed up here for what promises to be another awesome Tee Set Sunday.

Tee off at 11:30 from 1 and 10 – after paying modest green fees that haven’t been confirmed yet, we will let you know on Thursday.

The next Interleague round follows on the 21st September. Tee Set is in equal third spot and looking to advance with a good result. With both the Immediate Past and Present Tee Set Presidents away at a weeding (in the Presidents own spelling there) in Solo we will are looking for some new blood to step into the team.

There are a certainly a good number of in form players at the moment with Peter Bush, Craig Ewers and Bruce Hector certainly coming to mind.

It will also be Geoff Thwaites’ birthday party once the round and Interleague formalities are complete. Those of us there last year can vouch for this not being a golf day/party combo to be missed.

See ya at Genung Geulis! … Tee Set

Next up: Padang Golf Modern, Sunday 7th September 2014

Don't worry, we are not playing at night .....
Five times Open winner Peter Thompson designed a gem of a course at Padang Golf Modern and we will be able to savour its delights on Sunday when Tee Set returns after an absence of some eight months.

Green fees including cart of just 650,000 roops, there is no walking option, is a very reasonable price to pay for this course, a course allegedly in top condition right now.

(NOTE CHANGES HERE)A tee time of 12:30  may be advanced some, and Management has promised a mini shotgun so more likely we’ll have 6 tee boxes, not just two 🙂

If you haven’t already then let us know you are coming by filling in the registration form as usual.

Monthly Medal, Matoa, Sunday 31st August 2014

Matoa cartpathsThe Day

40 Tee Setters showed for the Monthly Medal at a Matoa looking its Summer best on the day, with the greens in fine nick though still a little ragged around the fairway edges. Another feature were the cart paths being put in on nearly every hole, great idea, just hope we don’t have to use them.

Getting there in the morning traffic was a problem for some with every five minutes later you leave Jakarta seeming to be penalised by arriving 10 minutes later at Matoa. The trick here is clearly to leave home a bit earlier and avoid the worst of it.

Two Newcomers this week after last week’s torrent at Imperial, in Dede Nielen-Groen and Dennis Ryan. The round was Dede’s first game ever and she managed to break 140. Five more cards and she’ll have an official handicap 🙂

Enjoy your golf with Tee Set both.

Proudly heading up a significant list of Welcome Backs this week is Bob McLeod who last played with us in the 2010 Tee Set Championship, making his a 194 weeks absence in all. We understand Bob is retired now so hope he’ll get back to being a regular since he will have a lot more time on his hands. Hasten ye back Bob, and don’t leave it so long next time.

Also good to see Mike Taylor back after 17 weeks – and we noted that wife (and former Tee Set secretary) Liza had been left back in the States. How did you pull that one off, Mike? 🙂

Facing the biggest challenge of the day was Mel Meeds whose tempo was somewhat disturbed by having to keep his cheeks together as he took each swing – with several unscheduled trips back to the club house failing to help. Still finished his round though, well done Mel!!

The extra batch of Tee Set shirts we ordered a couple of months ago are just about gone after another 4 went today. Their great price at just 250,000 roops and fine style have made them popular with Tee Setters both old and new and another 25 of the new style have been ordered and will be ready for the 21st September round. Get in quick because they have proven to be a very hot item.

The Play

Skill Prizes

Matoa NickyNicky Moir on his short (but steadily getting longer) trip back here is playing out of his skin. Followed up an ace at Cenkareng the day before he secured the coveted Monthly Medal with 43 Stableford points, and of course the Slaneys Butchery Rp500,000 meat voucher.

George Bevege is very much the in-form player taking low gross for the second week in a row with 79 off the stick while Dave Shenman just loves Matoa as seen from his score in last year’s championship and was to take low net with 66, though needing to be pulled apart from his mate Evaldo Roos on a countback.

Brad Sincock hugged the fringes and followed most chips with one putt. This is of course the Tee Set way to land Low Putts and he did just that with 26 shading out the Millers who took 27 putts apiece

Matoa SimonLongest drive also went to Nicky Moir and nearest to the pin was Simon Reynolds that won him a bonus pack of 6 Santi’s Premium Pies which you see him here receiving from the eponymous Santi.

Eagles are a rare bird but Craig Binks just managed to sneak one in on his last hole played. Neil Young after a long absence managed to get his money back with First Sandy on hole 18. Obviously few sandies about today.

Bob Fleischmann always a slow starter but strong finisher took most improved with 8. 1st par over 30 shared by Jaco and Lina

Booby Prizes

Matoa RodRod Ritson won the only cross dresser prize today but was man enough (sic) to don the famous Tee Set pink tutu and its accompanying, rather violently hued, wig; and he cuts a fine figure in it. Well done Rod!

Harold Hayne, normally a decent putter, chose today for an off-day to take the Monster Putter Award with 42 blows of the flat blade while Tom Grace convincingly won Most Strokes with an outstanding 13!

More detailed player by player results from the day here and more photos of the day on our photo gallery.

Jakarta Interleague

Though Tee Set did not participate in the Interleague’s 2 man Stableford (we pulled out early by the way and not the day before), this report of the day will be of interest to many.

Next Up

ModernAnother stand-out course for you this coming Sunday with a return to the very fine Peter Thompson designed Padang Golf Modern. The opening of the Jakarta Outer Ring Road’s “missing link” will make the trip rather faster than previous with an expected travel time of just 45 minutes from Kemang.

Green fees of just 650,000 roops including shared cart is a fine rate for this class of course. Tee off from 2 tee boxes at 11:30.

Sign up here so as not to miss what should be another very fine Tee Set Sunday, they just keep on coming.
