GENERAL:
The first novelty event of this year was an overwhelming success, with 25 players taking up the challenge of having only 4 clubs in the bag. Before tee off it was generally accepted that there would be a disadvantage of 20% (about 3 strokes depending on HC) by not having access to a full set of clubs. Well, today proved that wrong. The best net points was 40 which is 4 under HC, 13 players came in with better than 30 points. This result is better that all previous weeks this year.
The comments received were that it focused the player on course management and strategic use of the 4 clubs. This event proved to be a great training exercise and is recommended to be a continuing feature of Tee Set.
HIGHLIGHTS: (from our roving reporter Tom)
Highlights, such as they are or might have been:
1. Some remarkable gross scores carded at Pondok Cabe. If your stroke score’s first number was 8 and your club count was 4 then y’all did exceptionally well. Kudos to The Albatross Man for leading the charge.
2. Lessons learned (as mentioned by more than one Tee Setter): a) Maybe I don’t need a full bag of clubs!! b) Man, I get good with my 8-iron when I use it way more often than normal!
3. Haven’t checked all the cards but some Superman/Clark Kent guy shot 41-57. Anybody beat that for consistency? Hoo-ha!! 🤫
SERIOUS: FYI
The Draft Constitution and SOP for Tee Set has been submitted to the committee for review. . This document will provide clarity, consistency and certainty into the future.
Once it is considered ready for general comment it will be posted for comment by Members. Final version will then be put to the vote of active Members. If 2/3 of active Members accept the Constitution then it will become official and be the guide for Tee Set into the future.
MATTERS OF ETIQUETTE;
BUNKERS: Please ensure that bunkers are raked even if it’s not your marks.
THROWING CLUBS: This will not be tolerated and the standard excuse of “it slipped out of my hand” will not be accepted.
MUSIC: There is no restriction on personal music. However, it is a distraction to other players, keep it to yourself.
Tee Set is on a roll !! The scoring was completed in 15 minutes after last group returned to the club house. I request / require that you all enter your score in mygolf2u before handing in your scorecard to Admin..
Have a great week and I will see you all at Cengkareng on Sunday.
Regards
Geoff

- Tee Set honcho Geoff gave the valet guy a huge tip only to find his car parked halfway into a rubbish heap that leaked ooze under the car. The only parking spot left in the car park>
