A firm favorite with many TeeSeters the Writer still has reservations as to the appeal of the course and often disparagingly refers to the course as Teletubbyland. Weather conditions were hot to start with but a swirling breeze arrived shortly after the start and caused havoc amongst some golfers. The Starter caused major havoc in Jens’s round when they placed a 5 ball in front of his group. The Starter is still alive.
This will be a brief post as I have had a pretty busy week and I am off on a business trip tomorrow.
The group I played in had the TeeSet new boy Mike Makino and he must have been very impressed with the various parts of the course that our teeshots visited and he soon joined in the slugfest. Luckily after a few holes something resembling golf started to be seen. With each player steadily improving as the game wore on.
Other new players and long time returnees were Elena Victoria and Tim Fehling who had the company of The TeeSet JIL Matchplay Captain, Sam. Sam is also a big fan of Imperial so they were in good company.
Falling asleep at the keyboard.
The Winners
Max takes the lollies with a very impressive round nett 67, not sure what that is in Stableford Points. Well done Max.
Sam low gross with an excellent round of 75. He definitely mastered the blustery conditions.
Claudio takes first birdie on hole 11. Well done.
SRP, better known as Ryan wins first par for a 30+ HCPer. Well done.
Ezra was this week’s putting master with 29 taps of the Flat Stick

The police airwing assisting the TeeSet President in locating his ball. This could be your position in the Jakarta social golfing world as the President is being retired this year. (it is a video click on the photo)
Sunday saw the last round of the Jakarta Interleague and pride and glory was at stake as teams jockeyed to improve their final standings. Jaws were sitting comfortably in first place baring a disaster they looked good to claim the title. Wolves, after a TeeSet thumping in round one, were in need of a win to get outright second place if not first place. They had a narrow win over Pocksia to claim second place outright after Glorious Teeset had a draw with the Tin Cups. Meaning Tin Cups finished 3rd and Glorious Teeset moved into outright 4th.
The teams for TeeSet on Sunday were Singles: Sam & Daniel. Sam lost his singles and Danial managed to halve his round. This gave danial the enviable season’s figure of 5 wins ,1 draw and 1 loss
The Pairs of Andrew and Jeff had a nice win 2/1 with Andrew playing his first game for the season
Douglas & Michael had a comfortable win 5/4 with Douglas putting in a great round to anchor the flight.
Craig and Vishal suffered a narrow loss on the last hole in what was obviously a very tight game. This was Vishal’s first game also for the season.
This was a suucessful season after struggling to break through last year. We have the makings of a good squad and with a few more players we should take a big stride forward next year in our quest for victory. A big thanks to all the players who volunteered this season and to our leadership team of Sam and Dean. We all look forward to taking on the challenge in 2025.
To make sure you are eligible to play in the Interleague Team you need to have an up-to-date MyGolf2U handicap, meaning a minimum of 5 games. It is alos worth noting that regular TeeSetters will always be given preference over the player who appears on the odd occasion.
The JIL day was a lot of fund with 7 TeeSet flights joining in on the final day and the course was fairly crowded but pace of play was superb. With this many players of all different standards the cry of fore was echoing around the golf course. It is important to call fore if you hit a big banana shot onto the other fairways or clank a tree at high speed. A hit from a golf ball can be dangerous. Also when you hear the call of FORE take precautions it only takes a second to put your hands over your head and duck. The only golfer who may have an exemption is the President, being deaf in one ear he has no idea what direction the ball could be coming from and is basically a sitting duck.
A special thanks to Roger and Jack and the JIL team captasins for putting together such a wonderful competition.
The Winners
Andrew takes out the best low gross with 68. A very good score that helped TeeSet in JIL.
A stand in photo of the low gross winner Roger with a gross 78.
Birdie boys on the first Emiliano and Max. Well done
David takes low putts with 26. David nailed a beautiful chip from the edge of the greenside rough on the 3rd hole of the day being the most memorable on a day when his flat stick was on fire.
Imperial Karawaci on the Sunday the 20th
A perennial Teeset favorite. With some challenging holes well balanced with the higher indexed holes. The bunkers are always a challenge as is keeping your balls dry. The course is easy to get to from all parts of Jakarta and very well priced and the club house amenities are top rated. Get on down for some Sunday fun. Sign up on MyGolf2U. Also aupgrade to the new addition by pushing the red section on the old app on the left hand side.
TeeSet Matchplay Championship
The players left in the comp need to get their games sorted as we are just over a month away from the Championship. This Sunday presents as a great opportunity where men and women’s tees are well positioned.

Note the glorious blue sky. The blue gave way to a light cloud covering with a gentle mountain breeze all adding up to a superb day to be playing golf in the Bogor hills. Teeset suffered a few morning cancellations due to fear of weather as suffered by the DOGS the previous afternoon or just too much booze on a Saturday night.
who did trust in the weather always shining favourably upon TeeSet was made up of Vishal, Holger, Jens, Tom Shinta, Rosita & me. Split into 2 flights. Lift, clean and place was announced based on the deluge from the day before, and except for the very first hole there was not a damp spot on the course. A few water hazards withstanding. We teed off exactly on time as Gunung Geulis are excellent at arranging tee times. It seemed the line of play was follow the President, never a good idea and Holger and Vishal soon gave up on tha line of play as The President opened with a well managed double par on the first, and this was on one of the easier holes. Trouble lay ahead.
We soon caught the group in front of us where one of the players was having an on course lesson, but there speed of play was reasonable and as were were a 3 ball we should be close to them through the front 9 which was actually the back 9, if you know what I mean. The standard of play was improving as we worked our way around the course with Holger missing a very good score due to being a little bit short of juice on 4 or 5 putts that just stopped at the lip of the hole. The greens at Gunung Geulis have terrified many a golfer over the years but Jens managed a well controlled 31 putts, alas Shinta was a bit wayward and Tom wildly wayward, whereas Rosita was banging them in from 8 metres away.
The second 9 we are standing at the signature par 4 hole and the caddy is telling me that you can cut the corner and being a lazy short cutting bastard I took her advice and cut the corner. Well not really hooked it deep into the Pinus trees and had to stand on the penalty drop box of shame by myself. Vishal and Holger having taken the sensible path to the hole. Another penalty after a dodgy bounce saw a lovely triple to start the back 9, which was 1 stroke better than the opening hole. Things maybe improving. A marshal was pleading with us to cut cross country to avoid being stuck by the slow moving group in front of us. From the par 3 following hole, we could see no one in front so ignored him, after telling him it was his job to tell that group to get a hurry on.
Meanwhile Jens, Tom, Shinta and Rosita took the advice on board and zigzagged across the mountainside avoiding roadblocks but basically completing the round in the same time if they had followed us. We finally caught this “slow” moving group on the 3rd last hole. It wasn’t a 3 ball, it wasn’t a 4 ball it was a 5 ball. They looked important and they obviously were important as why else would they be allowed to play as 5 on a Sunday. We believe there may have been some gambling involved but the police were not contacted. Round done and dusted in just over 4 hours a lovely day on the mountainside.
The winners
Good contact on a sprinkler head resulted in a par for the President as he bumbled his way around the course for 40 Stableford points. He also grabbed the only sandy par. President also took best on beer with 3 large bottles in the after golf warm down.
Low gross 86 to Jens who beat Holger by handicap. Jens also took low putts 31
Holger gets first birdie on 16. A few too many short putts left the bird count at 1, and missed the low gross. Too the practise putting area, I may join you.
Summary
Well that’s the 4th time we’ve been to GG in the last couple of years and we struggle to get 20 players. Reasons being is that the DOGS are playing there, the traffic is bad on Sundays. Well the traffic was fine, a bit of an hour home. The Dogs have played the hill for the last 11 weeks. With JIL and Monthly Medal and the rainy season hemming in what TeeSet can do there are few opportunities to play courses such as this. The golfers who have made the trip the last 4 or 5 times have been presented with ideal playing conditions everytime. We don’t need to hear complaints about changing the course a week out as most bookings are done months in advance and are on the app. Maybe TeeSetters just need to remember the fantastic rounds that we have had here over the last 2 years and beyond and make an effort.
Jakarta Interleague at Pondok Cabe 13th of October
TeeSetters take on the second place Tin Cups this Sunday in an effort to grab second place for ourselves. Captain Sam is putting together a strong team. Tin Cups have a strong team on paper but luckily this game is played at Pondok Cabe a course where the Glorious TeeSetters have been dominate, over the last few outings.
If you are not playing in the Interleague pleas still come along and join the day. There will be an interleague end of season bbq after the event.

The weekend started off swimmingly with the AFL Grand Final. In the words of Bill Grey, as I predicted, the Brisbane Lions had a glorious victory. At game end, it was when I should have headed to the exit, but alas my pal Alcohol had other ideas and after helping close the doors at the footy venue it was off into the night. Awakening Sunday morning I was thinking my head was about to explode. A light breakfast of sausages, bacon, eggs and toast washed down with a big black coffee made me feel human for all of a nano second then the drum beats recommenced in my head. Cengkareng, Cengkareng, Cengkareng.
We had a passenger in the car today in the form of Hana so I could sit in the back seat and tap time to the head drum beats. Cengkareng, Cengkareng, Cengkareng. Arriving at the course the ATM rejected my card, my HP had gone missing and the drums kept on beating. A donut and a coffee later we were called to the tee boxes, being in the second last group there was no need to head for the sweltering outdoors, so Nic, Paul, Bill and myself chilled to the beat of the drums. I believe I am the only one that heard them. The Delta promotion girl was planted next to the non dispensing ATM what else could go wrong?
Well let’s not bother in finding out, lets go straight to the prizes. In the lead up to them, scanning a quick eye over the players list there were some fairly handsome rounds. Carter and Andrew played well, Gambhir had a nice round. Amongst the girls Sari and Rey were around their handicap number. Fernando led the batpack and I never saw Vijay all day. There’s a win. Just kidding Vijay. Who loves ya?
The Winners
Jude the Dude was the medal winner with a 66 nett. Well done champ. That’s a very big thumb you have there. You know what they say about people with very big thumbs? They have very big thumbs.
Low gross was Ian, who seems to have gone a bit dotty. Well done on the 76 off the stick.
The birdie mob Eli and Sam getting the job done on the first.
Long drive in blustery conditions goes to Fernando with a 236 monster. Who’s ya daddy?
Ladies long drive Rey with a towering 190 metre drive.
Ameesh was men’s NTP with 105cm
Tri was the best of the ladies with a shot to within 605cm. Well done.
Mr Sandman takes more money. Bill with the first sandy birdie on the 2nd hole of the day.
Wine Cartel lucky draw winner Andrew. Wine Cartel for all your Adult beverages.
This Sunday at Glorious Gunung Geulis
A fantastic course. Small number of sign ups. An easy drive from all parts of Jakarta these days an excellent green fee price. You’d be silly to miss Jakarta’s number 1 mountain course. Come play the Beautiful Mountain. Sign up on MyGolf2U.

A great view of the first hole on the Old Course, we played the New Course. Both have the habit of eating the President’s balls ( no reading between the lines please). We are getting to the pointy end of the season where points are at a premium in this 33rd running of the JIL (except for Covid misses). We were up against the Pocksia mob who have been working their way up through the field after a pretty rough start. Captain Sam was back and Vice-captain Dean was gone. Gone to get some renovations done on the old pegs. He’ll be dangerous when he’s back.
The driving range was a popular venue for Teesetters on this very hot Sunday morning. Arriving just after a couple of Pocks had arrived I beat them to the driving bays and sat down and had a smoke as I nursed last night’s hangover. I had had a cunning plan to get a few of the Pocksia members blotto the night before I believe it backfired with the President feeling wobbly at the range.
We had 4 TeeSetters there limbering up and only the ever reliable Daniel brought home the bacon with narrow losses to Sam, Albert and the guy above.
It was the first time I have visited a driving range prior to a round, and it had a match day feel about it as I never hit the same ball twice. Anyways, off to the clubhouse to meet up with the rest of the team. Jeff was full of beans and ready to go. Craig and Peter were relaxed, anymore relaxed and they would have been liquid. Finally, its off to the carts and I cart Viboon off the practise green and off we go. Arriving at the 9th we have a bit of time and the banter is on but things look good for TeeSet as Sam pops one over the bunker for the long drive win. The singles are off with Sam V Nick, a battle of the captains and Daniel V Ian that will be a battle royal. Next to follow are Viboon and myself V Roger & Fernando. We make a tentative start by stuffing up the drives and are down one immediately.
Luckily I had a male Jagorawi caddy. These guys are on another planet when it comes to assisting in green reading and course management. Unfortunately for me, a village somewhere was missing their idiot and he had shown up to impersonate a caddy on JIL day. He was about as much use as a chocolate teapot, no idea where I had hit my ball (that made 2 of us), no idea about what breaks were on the greens and he thought I could hit my irons like a pro, handing my a 7 iron from 160 out. Pretty sure there was some Pocksia skullduggery behind this :-). Beaten 3&2 by a competent pair, but we did have too many missed chances to really put pressure on them when it mattered. I did get a new daddy being the only bright side of the round. Hi Fernando where’s me pocket money?
Ahead of us the pairs took one game each Daniel “The Ironman” Park winning 5&4 whilst Sam went down 2&1in a tight one. Jeff and Albert got off to a bright start but were reeled in by Rey and Nanin. Peter & Craig continued their successful pairings and had a good win over Bruce & Velma. Well played Pocksia who now draw level with TeeSet in equal 3rd. TeeSet now have everything to play for heading into the last game of the season at Pondok Cabe against the DOGS. Jaws sitting on top of the table with Tin Cups and Wolves snapping at their heels.
TeeSetters did have a win taking home the last to leave trophy yet again. Many jugs later it was decided that last to leave gets two points. That gives us an extra 12 points and rockets us into the lead.
The weekend winners
Cucu back in form takes the prize for the weekend win.
First birdie to Craig on the 10th
First Sandy Par to Jens on the 4th
All of the above regular TeeSetters playing for other teams they have been added to the Presidential list, you do not want to be on that list I can assure you.
Monthly Medal at Cengkareng this Sunday 29 0f Sept

TeeSet Matchplay Championship
We are now getting to the interesting part of the season the chaff has been separated from the hay. We need to have the finalists ready to compete on the 23rd of November. So please organise your games ASAP. This Sunday would be a prime opportunity to get a match played.
Thanks to our sponsors once again San Miguel, the golfers go to beer, Asian Tigers, the moving professionals for professionals on the move, Wine Cartel, for all your adult beverages & The Bull & Vine, putting fun in that night out.
It was interesting to see so many TeeSetters observing the religious holiday last Sunday. Praying for improved pitching, putting and driving skills is really the last bastion of the lost. Nevertheless there were 5 flights of golfers who knew that divine intervention is not required. They already have the complete game. The complete game for some of these golfers included smashing drives, glorious chips, sensational putts. For some it happened on many holes, others just a few, but they were there challenging their handicaps. Some may have thought they were handicap challenged but they were wrong, a well played shank can occasionally result in a handy outcome. We had golfers in gambling withdrawal, playing for the first time without the pressure of financial disaster hanging over their heads, like the sword of Damocles, on every putt. We had first time players who enjoyed the camaraderie that TeeSet is internationally famous for. We had men and women from vastly different ages, different countries and religions, and we had golf which unites us all. I need to pause here whilst I shed a tear of emotion.
The day started well with an early start, by a few minutes, then things went wrong for the President hooking the first drive into the trees and Sam visiting the neighboring fairway on the right hand side. Meanwhile, Vijay, playing in the Presidential flight, and in the first group, along with newcomer, Melisa both managed to find the middle of the fairway. A couple of doubles from the committees members and bogeys from the others and the day was on. Sam and the President were soon in the groove with pars on the next. The president was soon out of the grove with a double on the next whereas Sam headed off on his merry way, missing three eagles by a combined distance of less than a metre. He managed those birdie putts, luckily. Vijay was consistent and finished a shot or two above his handicap. Melisa hit some dynamite shots and was unlucky in not being able to stop the ball on the green but played a good first TeeSet round. Welcome to the club. The President was having a smashing round unit the usual couple of blow up holes.
Meanwhile Jens and his flight were playing hopscotch with some local golfers who would let them pass then short cut to the next hole to be in front of them again. The god of golf tests us in many different ways and that god knows Jens’ weakness, slow play. The day was not slow except for that group, as we basically had the course to ourselves. The greens were good the heckling from Vijay was spot on and the blue language from the President was extremely mild, newby Melisa, kept the President restrained in profanities that day.
Once back in the club house it was an entertaining tale of missed birdies and fluffed sandies as golfers related their tales of the day. Most were like fishermen’s tales of the one that got away, but you have to nod in acknowledgement of their feats as you are next in line to add to the stories of glory just missed. The one thing that may have been true is that TeSeters did not add much to the blackmarket of second hand balls circulating through Jakarta’s golf courses. No matter how far we hit it into the trees on that glorious Sunday afternoon the balls were always found. Maybe the golfing god was smiling down upon us?
The round of the day went to the winner of the Krakatoa challenge, Roberto, with a terrific 40 off the stick on the front 9 and a solid 45 on the back to grab victory over Alessandro in a private matchplay. Other solid rounds were put in by George and Steve. We were all back in the clubhouse before 4 and discussions ensued that a half a dozen flights is fantastic for ease of play and maybe we should become a more elite group, but then realised what happens on the golf course is one important factor the other one being the warm down after the round and having a few more drinking buddies is always a good thing. After prizes and Wine Cartel lucky draw were delivered, a few of us head off to The Bull & Vine to enjoy the food and booze that our sponsor puts on. There were a few other TeeSetters there who couldn’t play that day and a long night ensued. I hope Steve managed to pack his black tie rig neatly into his travel case that night.
Onto the winners
Roberto with 42 Stableford points beats the President on a countback. Further evidence of the corruption free golf that TeeSet is famous for. Things need to change.
Sam was in reasonable form with a gross 73. This should put him in reasonable shape for next week’s Jakarta Interleague. Well done Sam. That shot you played on the 5th (on the official front 9 )was an all time ripper.
Ian was today’s birdie man with one on the 8th which is a challenging par 3 green. Well done.
Ale with a sandy par on the 10th (1st hole) beats Vijay who went home early. Well done Ale, always pays to stay for the chips and a warm down beer.
Max is this week’s surprised winner of the Wine Cartel lucky draw. Remember, for all your adult beverage needs, pay a visit to TeeSet sponsor at https://winecartel.id/
Jarkarta Interleague at Jagorawi September the 22nd
Captain Sam has put together a strong team to take on Pocksia this Sunday as we make a push toward top of the table. It will be a semi-shotgun start at 12.30. Please be there to register by 11.30 and TeeSet Team members are strongly encouraged to warm up at the driving range prior to this. There’s one exception to this and appearred in all the above photos.
TeeSet also runs a separate event on the same day at the same course and is part of the JIL arrangements so come along and take on the challenges of Jagorawi. The more the merrier.
TeeSet Match Play Championship
We are getting toward the pointy end of the season. Please try and organise your rounds on TeeSet Sunday’s. Below arte the two tables of who reamins alive. Thanks Roger for the management
November 23rd is the date of the TeeSet Championship
Guys put this date you your diary as it fills up quick. Even better register now on MyGolf2U. This will allow the committee to pre-plan everything we need for a successful championship day.
The above photo is just a fraction of the wonderful San Miguel product that was enjoyed by the TeeSetterslast Sunday. The array of beers being produced these days is nearly as many as the array of shots on display by the TeeSetters on Sunday. The big difference is that San Miguel is all quality. Thanks again for your generous sponsorship. Golfers were treated to the Presidential Spritz on arrival which helped golfers get into their groove or numbed them comfortably to what lay ahead.
23 teams took to the field last Sunday in hot conditions. Jakarta had been hot with no rain and nary a cloud to be seen for the last 2 months. This meant fairways that ran and greens that were fast. The condition of the course was as good as it gets at PJ a credit to the greenkeeper and his staff. With a semi shot-gun start of 12 holes we were away. The one thing that was missing, to the usual extent, during the day was the cry of Fore. Anyways each team needed 3 drives from each member and most teams seemed to achieve this in a well timed manner. None better timed than the Spin Dryers who left it to the last hole where a golf carefully place his final drive next to the bridge on the 9th hole. How a par was made from there is now one of the 7 miracles of the golfing world.
The sound of cheers across the course as birdie after birdie was added to the team scores gave the course and day a feeling of joy, happenings in the Middle East and Ukraine were momentarily forgotten as we revelled in the joys of the TeeSet Anniversary. The pace of play was fast with the Olé Olé Longshankers catching the Spin Dryers. I think the Longshankers may have had one or two too many adult beverages on the way around but who am I to judge? It also helped that they had electric chariots to drag them around whereas Spin Dryers, Samurai Warriors & Diamonds in the Rough were all on Shank’s pony and it was hot.
There were a few teams that made an effort in the best dressed category, The Flying Finns, Kartoffel, Swingout Sisters, The Gimme Gang and Cucu and the Nutsacks. In a close call the Gimme Gang in their Virgin white attire took the prize.
A day like this does not happen all by itself and I would like to thank the TeeSet Committee of Bill Lloyd, Craig Ewers, Dean Merriless, Sam Westen and Roger Finnie without their support and constructive management of this event things could have really run off the rails. Also a special thanks to Adhe for doing a lot of behind the scene tasks. A great job by Roger on the day getting the scores tallied and the prizes out in a very timely manner. Congratulations to all the winners on the day but the biggest winners were all the 23 teams that came out to play and made the day so enjoyable for everyone. The camaraderie amongst TeeSetters throughout the day makes this group and this day a must attend annual event. Having said that, every Sunday is rather pleasant with TeeSet.
A big thanks to Richard Mau and his culinary team at J S Luwansa for the fantastic Birthday Cake, Ex-Presidents in the photo and one not so ex.
The Whispering President gave a short speech about the origins and early history of TeeSetters which was appreciated by all and Rod lead the crowd in thanking the committee for the day
The winner of the Wine Cartel lucky draw on Sunday was the ever lucky Cucu, she must have some Irish blood.
Here is a link to the phots foorm the day which includes all the winners and some action shots from the course. https://bit.ly/4cXKU6D
The crowd began to disperse just before 8pm and many relocated to the Bull & Vine for a few evening lagers. Seemed like a good idea until I awoke on Monday with a blazing hangover which still lingers.
Below the winners and below them your Team’s finishing spot.
This Sunday at Pondok Cabe
We return for the first time in a while to Pondok Cabe. A Sunday traffic friendly location and a course that has improved over the years. It will be our regular Stableford and we are planning an evening dinner at Bull & Vine after the golf. We hope to see you there. Book via MyGolf2U
Once again a big thanks to San Miguel, Asian Tigers, Bull & Vine and the Wine Cartel for their support of TeeSet.
Palm Hills, a course that has not been played for quite some time by the TeeSet was visited by an elite, albeit small field, of TeeSet golfers. The promised tee time had disappeared out the window but the golfers were eventual standing at the tee box to get things underway. The course has 16 holes left but plays as 18 and this maybe one on the last times we get to play it as the bulldozers of development edge closer. The good news is that a new Palm Hills is already under construction further up the hill toward the top of Hambalang. This will make Palm Hills a true mountain course hopefully on a par with Gunung Guelis. That’s Hambalang in the background of the photo. There is a road that runs beside the current Palm Hills to the new location. The road has been there for years and has been remade more often than the Merak Tol, maybe the next makeover they will get it right and we’ll be golfing there in the not too distant future.
The small numbers was partially due to the Asian Tigers 45 Hole Challenge organised by Bill Lloyd the previous day. The President was as stiff as a board after spanking whitey over the Jagorawi courses on Saturday, plus a case of trench foot and a slight, but not to damaging hangover. Braver souls such as Jens, Shinta and Bill all backed up after the 45, oh to be young again.
Jens and Shinta both had wonderful rounds both finishing on 42 Stableford points which is truly a wonderful achievement after being on Shank’s pony for 11 hours the day before. Jens won on a coutback but Shinta was all smiles later that evening at the Bull & Vine birthday
WINNERS
Two iron men but it was Jens who was on fire with the winning Stablkeford score of 42
Rosie back in form takes the low gross with a well executed 83 strokes.
Shinta got her day off to a flying start with a birdie on the 1st hole.
TEESET BIRTHDAY SCRAMBLE PANGKALAN JATI THIS SUNDAY
OK fellow TeeSetters the teams are nearly all set the shotgun start has been organised now all you have to do is show up and play golf. There are 6 team prizes for the best nets and grosses then there are over 36 lucky draw prizes and they all happen to be alcohol. Woohoo!
On top of this we have the pre-game Presidential Spritz on offer for the early arrivals, bound to go quickly. You can buy well priced and well chilled beers on the course. After the game we have a heap of ice cold beer for players to enjoy over their dinner (you pay for your food). Plus I believe there will be music/karaoke playing into the evening. A special birthday cake organised by Mr. Mau and prepared by the chefs at J S Luwansa will be cut. There is no corkage so if you feel like bringing your favorite tipple along feel free to do so. Sharing is caring, especially with the President. Don’t forget to cancel Monday morning at the office.
Rules and Teebox allocations will be published on the Whatsapp group Saturday. So pay attention. Speed of play needs to be maintained so we can all get back and get stuck into the beer sponsored by San Miguel and TeeSet, who have bought some beers from the club. The kitchen will be a bit overwhelmed, probably, with so many players so please have some patience as they prepare your food. It might be smart to order before showering. A menu of what is available will be sent out via the Whatsapp group tomorrow.
Food and drinks prior to the game paid for by the individual. Please ensure all bills are settled before departure. Let’s have fun.
None of this happens without your Committee and Sponsors a big thanks to Roger for getting the Teams and handicaps organised. Also to our Sponsors San Miguel, Bull & Vine, Wine Cartel, J S Luwansa and Asian Tigers.
This little beauty was spotted on the 6th I believe by Anna. I remember once, when out in the wilds of BSD, before the concreter arrived, I had seen a lot of snakes whilst on na ramble and I asked a farmer what sort of snakes they had in this area. His reply cobras just cobras. The same is not the same at Cengkareng as last year a python was found on the 14th. Young Craig Edwards had an encounter at Cengkareng a few years back where a tasteless cobra gave him a nip and he stopped growing. So be very careful, my local course at home forbids players entering the bush during October & November due to Tiger snake breeding seasons they don’t stop your growth like a cobra they just stop you dead in your tracks. Don’t panic be like Anna and take a photo from a safe distance you are not on the menu, Craig probably was.
A few players with sore heads were seen in the clubrooms drinking large sodas and ice coffee in an attempt to take the pain away. The Pocksia mob need to stop having their day on the eve of ours. The pain, the pain.
We had 41 players registered which led to a bunch of 3 balls needing to be organised then someone dropped out leaving us with 40 players. Golf is not compulsory but it is compulsory to register and deregister. Play was a bit delayed as the club has new carts and it seemed everyone in the pre-TeeSet tee off groups had one. The start was slow and stayed that way all day but surprisingly we were home in just under 4.5 hours. The three ball behind us were rather rude but were seldom seen on a fairway but we unfortunately meet them at a few rest stops. Constantly trying to play through and complaining about the speed of and quality of play. This may have earned you a final flight starting position for the next 4 years. It’s good to be President. Axel, Vijay & Vincent behave 🙂
Conditions were hot at the start but by 2pm the temperature had started to drop. The wind picked up slightly taking the sting out of the day. The President met his wife as she maneuvered here cart between the hills of the 12th as she came looking for her ball played from the 11th. She was happy having just nailed a birdie carefree of the act that she was in the middle of the wrong fairway and a double would be a good result. I headed off to the 11th where I had strategically placed my drive and managed a well grafted 6 on the par 3 12th.
Back in the club house things were warming up Dean had seen a two hour delay to his flight to KL so was getting into his cups. The food and the booze was flowing The Sheard’s group finally arrived before the sun went down and onto the prizes we shall go.
An impressive round sall Sari master the course with a dominate net 65.
Claudio breaks into a big grin with a best gross 74 and low putts 26. The man is enjoying a purple patch on the course.
Richard Sheard nailed the first birdie on hole 1 as did 3 other golfers but due to financial restraints we gae it to the youngest. Well done to the birdie boys.
Ladies long drive with a booming 180m drive goes to Anna. Well done
Nearest the pin Divya with 810cm. Well done on a challenging par 3
Ith a 660cm from the hole Siti takes closest to the pin ladies.
Seabrook gets caught in the fairway bunker on the 9th to take the first Sandy Par
This course is being rebuilt at the back of Hambalang so sign up and play the original this Saturday on MyGolf2U. Built on the side of the Cikeas river which then flows past Jagorawi, Emeralda and Riverside. A great course that is in easy striking distance of Jakarta.
Then head back to JAkarta to join Bull & Vine’s first anniversary party. All the best folk will be there.
