TeeSetters have been giving the pins on the Par 3s a bit of a pounding over the last few months. Cucu was first past the post this season followed by Geoff with Ian picking one up at last Sunday’s monthly medal and finally, John popped one in earlier this week. Many other TeeSetters have nailed a hole in one and there is an elite section that have more than one. No jealousy from me just plain and simple envy.
The comments that flowed as these successes were posted in the TeeSet Whatsapp group shows what a great group of golfers that play with TeeSet. Golf is generally an individual sport and each day on the course we are striving to do better individually and those birdies, pars and rescues keep us coming back. The one thing that we all enjoy as golfers is watching other people having a magical moment on a golf course. These can be skimming a ball to dry land, successfully navigating the Tiger Line, a sandy par, a chip in birdie, or in Bill Lloyds case an in flight birdie. They make us all happy and it is a great conversation maker back in the club House over a few Adult Beverages. They bring us closer together as we share these events as eye witnesses or recounting the story. The reason for Social Golf.
On a different note we farewell one of TeeSets more frequent golfers with Diarmuid moving onto greener pastures. Over the years since he joined TeeSet i have kept an eye on him for various non-sexual reasons. Firstly it was his name Diarmuid. I dread a conversation as I had no idea how to pronounce that so for the first few encounters it was the ever safe greeting by using Mate. Eventually I knew this couldn’t last but what to do. Mr Google can help with everything, except my golf swing, so I was saved by this https://youtu.be/yoJSNmfsP6g. This allowed communication on a more civil level. Diarmuid started out with a handicap larger than the President’s but with consistent swearing was able to bring down to below 20 along the way picking up a voucher for most improved. As I took the mantle of leadership on there were a few incidents on the golf course where it seemed he was intent on doing the President harm. As his game improved and me having Adhe move him to safer locations on the golf course I could relax, much to Diarmuid’s frustration. Diarmuid was also a very competitive Matchplay golfer having come 2nd in a very close TeeSet final with his good mate Patrick, golf was a winner that day. It was always great to catch up with him and his work colleagues after the game for some friendly banter. I had him down as Presidential material now he is a ship leaving port. Safe travels Diarmuid.
Off to last week winners
From top left, Siti for low nett 66 but medal goes to Sari who was OB. Next we have John with low gross 81. Anna with long drive ladies and NTP, 175 m and 4.85 m respectively. Sandy Par Dean on 3 and NTP Goran 4.4m. Roger working the flat stick for 26 taps. Finally last Sunday’s HIO boy Ian on hole 8.
This Sunday Gunung Geulis
Our first trip up the mountain for sometime. Great challenging course. Book early on MyGolf2U to avoid disappointment. Easy access from toll road.
TeeeSet Birthday Scramble
A bit of a muck up the scramble is in September. Get your teams sorted. Prizes to be won fun to be had.
Well, it may have been East of Java prior to the big bang of 1883. Maybe that’s where Sam went? Anyways a bunch of us found our way down to Royale Krakatua in Cilegon. When I see the word Royale I think of Pulp Fiction and Travolta. Where a McRoyale is the French version of a Quarter Pounder and if you try and order one of those at the Cilegon Dirty Rons (McDonalds), they will have no idea what you are talking about. Oops I must get rid of that aluminium kettle, I digress again. Let’s get back to the golf. 50 plus golfers and partners headed down the Merak Toll road for a weekends golf and festivities and what a weekend it was a 2 day Stableford combined points.
The weather was overcast and we were warned of slow greens but not of a slow round. There was a movie once called Field of Dreams which became famous for the phrase ” If you build it they will come”. The same could be said about golf courses in Indonesia, we had been expecting a quiet round with a shotgun start. Boom the shotgun start ran us straight into flight after flight of Korean golfers. If you build it they will come. From the first hole we were behind flights of Koreans and arriving at the 10th there was a squadron awaiting. I heard Bill “Beer Bags” navigated this problem successfully by driving to the front of the queue. The course was in good nick and Michael and Frank got off to a fly with pars on the first two holes. Michael then followed up with a birdie on the 3rd.
The weather on day one was great for golf, a bit hazy from some seasonal burn off, but it kept the sun away. The long par 5 saw the ladies teeing off with a 100 metre+ advantage. I handled it well until a point having finally, on my 3rd shot, getting past Madame President to be short of the greenside bunker. The next 5 shots to navigate the final 40 metres were magical to say the least. The language was blue.
Back in the club house and we had a fairly close leaderboard. Who could hold it together on the Sunday? Who would leave the Korean BBQ at a sensible hour? Who would avoid Bill “Beer Bags” Red light disco on the way home from the BBQ? Who would show up looking like they had been run over by a truck? Who thought they were a good karaoke singer? Don’t go anywhere folks this and much more will be revealed below. Read on
8am, thats right readers 8am on a lovely Sunday morning when this reporter is normally still dozing off in the Noddy Box but not this Sunday it was tee off time, OMG, oh Bill’s red light disco, oh the crappy buffet breakfast, oh Roger stealing my coffee :-), oh having to wake up at 6 to get there for 8. The horror! The horror! The hangover! The hangover!
The leading players from yesterday’s round were partnered up to give it a bit of a LIV final round feel. The questions on everyones minds were ” Can they keep it together? Will there be a dark horse making a bolt for the prize? The question on my mind was why, why 8am?
Golfers to your carts. I was paired up with Kevin, Cucu and Tom and there were two Pocksia matchplays to be won. To put it briefly Tom pulled my pants down early and I never got to pull them back up. He also took a nearest the pin in the demolition, now I may need professional help to get over this issue or just not roll up pissed on the first tee (15th). Cucu, like a cat toying with its prey let Kevin feeling that there may be a chance, before snuffing him out with a few to play. Well done Tom & Cucu. There was a bit of wild life about Mi spotted a butterfly and there were a few civet cats sneaking around the course. What was more common were the calls of the foriegn wildlife fore, fore, fore was heard through out the round I even put in a few dozen calls myself. But one lazy Korean failed to call which led to Roberto copping a hit on the right side of his head whilst waiting on the 18th tee box. He pondered calling it quits as the world spun around him but mustering his wits and courage he played on through the last five holes, with 4 pars and a bogey and came storming through the field to claim first prize. Bulldozing Alessandro back into second place. Nicolas took the 2 day Gross. I took a hiding from Tom
Nicolas. Alessandro. Roberto.
Kojo Monthly Medal Cengkareng Sunday 30th
Spots are filling fast for the monthly Medal so please sign up on MyGolf2U to avoid unbearable disappointment. Strokeplay, men play off the blues ladies from the red.
TeeSet Birthday Scramble
In the month of August we have the birthday scramble, now is the time to start organizing your team.
Once again thanks for everyone for joining us at Royale Krakatua last Sunday. All the Karaoke singers were wonderful except for that horrible duet by 2 drunks who will remain nameless to protect their families from public shaming and community scorn.
As we all know by now when TeeSet play Interleague excitement quite intense prevails amongst our fans spread out across the globe. So we have joyous news for our fans out there who wait for the monthly results to come in. The glorious, victorious TeeSet Team had an outstanding victory against the Cloggies who fielded a very strong team. With Captain Sam back to sort the team out and his able VC Dean to assist we were looking good on paper and pretty good as a team as we went a bit freestyle with the uniform this weekend. This is not an episode of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy this is about golf. So it matters not a jot what you wear as long as you bring your game. The TeeSet lads showed up and they brought some pretty good golf with them.
The team consisted of Sam, Daniel, Peter, Craig, John, Dean, Douglas & Michael. The games ebbed back and through as the team battled it out around the fairways and greens of Imperial. Daniel continued on his merry way with another solid win. Sam’s opponent got off to a fly, but over the course of the round Sam wound in a 5 hole disadvantage to go down by one. A great chase. The team of Peter and Craig got the job done in fine fashion with a rather comfortable win, but needed a solid mid-section of the round to build that victory off. Dean and John had solid rounds to take the points. Dougie had the task of carrying the President around and did a wonderful job of getting the team into a winning position off the back of 3 birdies in a row and a par. In what had been a close game after 7 holes, Dougie then just blew it a part with the magical 4 hole run to knock the wind out of the Cloggies sail and set us up for a victory, which he finalised with a half on the second last hole from a difficult position. I was there to offer words of encouragement and lollies to sustain the energy of the guy carrying us to victory. Lollies are important.
This round TeeSet walked away with an 8/2 team win. Some much needed points and moves us into a clear 3rd spot and having closed the gap on first and second. We are awaiting final calibration of Sunday’s scores but we are definitely back in the hunt. Next round is at Riverside.
The team stayed late with bottles of wine, beer and whisky being consumed as we celebrated into the evening. The celebration may have continued but the venue shut. This meant the President moving to the Cloggies table to pinch some beer then onto Wolves to get into their whisky. Now I know what a bin chicken feels like. This what one looks like
Let’s get onto the prizes as it was also a normal day for a lot of non-JIL players and many JILs joined the regular TeeSet day. Paying Interleague and TeeSet Fees does help our end of the year kitty.
Zip-a-di-do-day ZEBEDEE TAY takes best Stableford with a nice 46 points. A few more games and he might earn selection in the Glorious Victorious TeeSet team. Also welcome to the club hope to see you soon.
Tied for low gross was the gun for hire, Axel with the man of many languages, Fernando. Both had a pretty handy 76 off the stick. Well done lads.
When you are chipping and putting like Douglas was on Sunday there’s a good chance you will be in the money. With 25 taps of the flat stick he takes this weeks low putts.
There was a feedback request by Imperial which I posted on Sunday please take the time to complete as feedback is valuable to clubs in managing speed of play (it was slow, very slow) and keeping the bar open with well priced beers.
Next weekend TeeSet DOGS Krakatua weekend
This is a two day event, last bookings today. There will be an array of prizes to be one and a great evening on Saturday night with Karaoke and other fun stuff. Just don’t let the Presidents of either group near the singing box, why ruin a good night.
Make sure you get down in plenty of time you may wish to have a meal before the round so don’t arrive at midday and expect to be able to do this. Mr Google MAps will help get you there in tim. Also most likely you will not be able to check into the hotel before teeing off, you can ask but don’t get upset if you have to wait until after the round. The world will not end ( Krakatua is miles away). That evening party and dinner at the golf club in our private room. BYO booze, beers most likely available but other adult beverages maybe not. Don’t stay up too late as Sunday tee off is an ungodly 8am.
The comp is a 2 day best Stableford totals. On day 2 the leaders will be paired together to increase the pressure. Day one you can select your flights by letting John or Rod know by Friday morning latest. Sunday you will be paired by Saturday’s performance. Prize giving after the round on Sunday.
The President was thankfully absent from last Sunday’s round at Riverside. Therefore sparing golfers his usual Riverside profanities as he hacks and chops his way around one of Jakarta’s more scenic layouts. There were storms afoot in Cipete that afternoon and hopefully players were spared a soggy stroll through the fairways of Riverside on the lovely banks of the Cikeas River, which from time to time floods Jakarta.
Riverside, due to its immense popularity saw us limited to just 7 flights, albeit, that we had booked weeks in advance, this may lead one to now realise why the World Cup was played at Jagorawi. Good to see the CIMB Niaga Golf club didn’t bother staying after their round leaving the club house to TeeSet and the restaurant surviving on TeeSet appetites alone. Anyway, there were the lucky few who graced the course last Sunday, and then there was the poor suffering President who was gracing a mate’s BBQ, fully laid on, they needed a gurney to get him out of there at the end of the night.
Gluttony, Irreverent behaviour, Sandbagging, and Cynicism seem to be the four culture pillars of the TeeSet President. I find these are important traits that guide my life, and I meditate on them every morning as part of my journey to reaching peak Sandbagging. Let’s hear it one more time, 4 more years.
Let’s get to the winners and other important news
JP finding a bit of form on the fairways of Riverside with a very nice 39 Stableford points. Come in Spinner.
A golfer who does not hack & chop his way around a golf course is Nicolas who tamed Riverside with 77 off the stick. 2 thumbs up to that one. I may need to add jealousy to my pillars 🙂
A man now frequenting the photo section more frequently, Bill with the first birdie. The golf lessons and golfing trip to Scotland are finally reaping you glorious financial rewards from TeeSet. Well done, mate, love the tan line, but..
Alessandro wins the best tan line from Bill by 4 shades. He also took first sandy par. Those calves need relief.
The master of the flat stick, Roger takes the low putts with a pretty impressive 27 taps.
New member : ANDREA SACCARELLO. Welcome to TeeSet
We will definitely be needing an Italian President with nearly 65% of the club being Italian or identifying as one.

TeeSet Royal Krakatua challenge with the D.O.G.S.
This will soon be closed to new registrations due to logistical purposes so please sign up on MyGolf2U ASAP. You will need to have also paid by next Tuesday. The weekend consists of one night’s accommodation and two rounds of golf with a grand prize for best Stableford over the two days plus other section prizes and skill prizes as well as a lucky draw. On Saturday evening there will be a Korean BBQ and the food is divine, BYO.
This is the 4th round of JIL Matchplay and Captain Sam is back. VC Dean and Sam have put together a pretty awesome looking team for the day and the boys will b planning on taking the chocolates and sharing none (gluttony). Come along and play one of Jakarta’s more interesting courses and then saty and celebrate what will be a glorious, victorious day of golf for the team we love, TEESETTERS. Kita Harus Menang! If we don’t we know where the meat for the following week’s Korean BBQ will be coming from.
Well, this picture may not look like a cup but this was what we were playing for. San Mig the great brew from the Phillipines now available here alongside the great old classic Anker. TeeSet is very thankful for the sponsorship provide by Dan and his team at PT Delta Djakarta Tbk. Also sponsoring the event was Dean Merrilees a big thank you for that also.
We had a full field of 24 teams a nd speed of play was important. The Kilted Warriors disappeared into the distance first off the 10th and were home just on 4 hours. The rest took their time, particularly the Napoleonians who disappeared into the background after 1 hole behind the Melburnians. A little bit of rough weather saw a short delay for any team on the course after 4.10pm. Most importantly all were finished before dark and now it was up to the scoring Maestro to do his magic. Thanks everyone who sent me their score cards they went no further, as I was busy looking for my balls. Following instructions is not a strong suit of TeeSetters, we are social golfers and things just miraculously get organised by the Golf Fairy.
Rather than me waffling along about all the trials and tribulations that the teams experienced on the field, shopping trips, slips, thins, fats, clunks, birdies and eagles let’s just enjoy photos from the day and some smart arse comments where appropriate.
The Low Net champions. I am pretty sure Bill snuck all the beer into his bag and headed for the door leaving teammates empty handed. Well done on the Net 201, Richard, Bill, Mark and David.
Equal second place net goes to the Canadian Avro Arrows, most who pre-dated the Avro Arrow by a decade or two but have outlasted it. Then we have the team of dubious backgrounds, Invicta. Now those of you with a Latin language background will realise that invicta is a feminine singular noun.
Well done to the mob from AA; Andrew, Tom, Robbie & Craig. Thumbs up to the team of Invicta; Jude, Diarmuid, Patrick & Alessandro, well done girls.
Low Gross winners were the Red & White team, a scoring glitch meant that they missed out on a prize but we were lucky enough to get a team photo of them earlier, well done boys with a pretty handsome 236 off the stick. Pin Up boys for Weight Watchers International. We are saving up for your prize be there this Sunday to get it.
Early winners but knocked off when the machine kicked out the right info on Monday morning. Well done to Eric, Olivier, Nicolas & Antoine on second place
The luckiest lads the boys from Nations United. There was no prize for 3rd place gross but on the night they were second and these guys did Asia Pacific proud. Viboon, Gavin, John and an absent Daniel.
Jon from Aussie Crawl nails one down the middle for a 300 metre drive. Well done. You can never have enough sprinkler heads to bounce off on a fairway. This must have happened early in play as the boys from AC were a bit unruly when spotted latter on the course.
Andrew will be taking this to his next AA reunion. A Nice Aussie wine for nearest the pin. 60cm which is about 2 foot in the old imperial measurements, when the Brits still had an empire, all they have now is a antiquated system of weights and measurements. I digress, well done Andrew.
Kayla takes Ladies long drive 270 metres and nearest the pin 70cm. Later on to add to her prizes a carton of San Mig. On Friday it was a flight to Bali win. Party on Kayla.
Best Dressed Team
Best dressed team went to the Nelis who should have stayed in the kitchen.
The Aussie Battlers getting their first beer order in. It wasn’t their last.
The most romantic team Suamistri
The Japanese/Indonesian team looking more Japanese.
The dour Brits, not very photogenic is about all I have to say.
The Jockindos who went very close to best dressed and so much more photogenic than the lads above.
The ladies of TeeSet, less a few who missed this photo.
On the putting juice.
Yep, still dour.
These duffers missed their tram, their fairways, their putts and their mushrooms. A soulless performance.
Gavin nails an eagle to keep the Nations United in it. Cracking achievement.
The final Standings
Well that ends The World Cup roundup. You can click on the link above for more photos. A special thanks for Roger for organising the teams, handicaps and scoring. Social golf is only successful with blokes like him. Thanks for the Singing President for helping with the lucky draws.
A special thanks to all the special people who asked me during the lucky draw what were they winning a bottle for. Yes you are very special. Lastly a special thanks for all the golfers who made the day such a great success. We look forward to seeing you next Sunday.
Riverside 9th of June
This Sunday we return to one of TeeSet’s favourite courses Riverside. Easy access from Jakarta via the new toll, ample parking day or night, great warm up facilities and better warm down ones. A challenging course that needs you on your game. Men have the option of playing blue or white tees. Please update your choice in the MyGolf2U application. Please sign up via MyGolf2U and if you have any pairing requests please let Adhe know.
TEESET MATCH PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP
We have a four to 5 week window to complete the next matchplays. Please organise to fit this time frame.
TeeSet & D.O.G.S. Royale Krakatau Challenge
Now is the time to sign up on Mygolf2U for a great out of town weekend of golf and boozing, I mean meditation. Yeah, nah boozing.
This will be a very brief report due to a couple of things. 1 being vey busy at the moment; 2 off to play golf in the Josef Fuchs memorial today.
A small but highly skilled and competitive field turned out for Sunday’s Monthly Medal. Ex-President Thwaites was keen to get amongst the beers early but a stern warning from current President left him dry not high. Big Ed was amongst his cups well before tee. I had overindulged the evening before at Poksia and polished the evening off with a few large whiskies left me in a particularly fragile state of both mind and body.
What happened that day well the first 9 was pretty slow. Diarmuid chipped in fro a second hole birdie which he convinced himself that would put him in the money. Several hours later we had a dirty Diarmuid at the presentations. Alessandro had a wonderful round of bogie golf. Missing 1 metre putts to nail the bogie in effortless fashion. Many of the bogies were achieved playing from parallel fairways. So if you are looking to be a bogie golfer always consider using other fairways besides the one the club presents for you. It’s not how you get to the hole it’s how you bogie the hole. Alessandro had an issue it seems with a stump/root no relief, no relief no root.
A well placed shot on the 5th by Diarmuid saw him up against the face of a fairway bunker. This will stuff him and maybe even break a wrist or at least an iron I thought as I calmly put my second shot in the water from a very good lie. Diarmuid takes his 7 iron clunks it out of the bunker straight as a die 140 metres. Heard about that shot for quite awhile. To make matters worse he nailed the sandy par. And picked up cash mainly due to Richard forgetting to tell Adhe about his earlier sandy par. Remember folk you need to tell Adhe about these achievements if you want the money and your photo in this illustrious publication.
Some who’s photo we will be seeing a bit later is one Bill Lloyd, a golfer I saw hacking his way around this course on Saturday. His early departure Saturday evening saw him fresh and raring to go Sunday and go he did tearing up the course like it was a mini golf layout. Hitting it long pitching and putting display that had to be seen to be believed and taking the coin from his playing partners.
To the winners
Bill takes the MM and the biscuits for low putts 29 with the flat stick and a net 65 woohoo go Billy Biscuits.
the birdie Twins, Jens & Simon, on the first hole 1&10 and low gross to Simon with a gross 75. I think we’ll have him off the blacks next month.
Sam slams one down the middle for long drive 243m. Boom
Siti takes the ladies long drive with a booming 130m down the middle
Jude takes nearest the pin 6.30 metres from the hole to put himself in 3 putt range. Well done.
Diarmuid takes the lolly for a wonderful Sandy par on the 5th Alessandro made a bogie.
Two weirdos spotted on the course. If you see them stay well clear.
World Cup of Golf Jagorawi June 2nd
The day we have been waiting for. Please read the information below carefully.
With 96 players speed of play is important – please keep up. Everyone is playing their own ball stroke play. We need a gross score only for each hole for each player. Best 3 net scores and best 3 gross scores on each hole will count to the team score, on a hole by hole basis. If you have 3 good counting scores and a blow out, the blow out can pick up. Men play from whites/Ladies from Reds. Team prizes for Best Net teams 1/2/3 & Best Gross teams 1/2 + best dressed team. LD (m+w) on 9 and NTP on 11 as individual prizes & a small lucky draw. Please register by 11.30 so we can load carts for a prompt shot gun start as soon after 12pm as our starting holes are free. Rp200k to be paid to Adhe on registration. Any questions please ask Roger or myself
To speed up scoring after the round, captains are asked to send a copy of the score card to Adhe after 6 holes are completed and after 12 holes are completed. Details to be briefed on Sunday …
A special thanks to Dan Xavier and his team at PT Delta Djakarta Tbk, the brewer of Indonesia’s finest beers, for sponsoring the World Cup Prizes this year
Below are the teams and the starting hole. Once again speed of play on Sunday is essential. There will also be a poll for the best dressed team on Sunday via a Whatsapp poll. Be fair and vote for the team you considered to be the best attired.
TeeSet were joined by the DOGS on Sunday due to a comp preventing them from playing on the previous day. TeeSet was set up on the back verandah of the clubhouse overlooking the 18th green. Golfers were spread randomly across the room. Adhe strategically positioned to collect the fees of incoming golfers.
It was good to see the return of Sam Westen. Jens & Shinta were there after a brief US vacation. Axel was there enquiring mischievously about my health. Steve from the hash showed up as did the elder lady of hash Rosita. The room started to fill as the warm up wowsers returned from the driving range and the usual late golfers arrived. Yep you guessed it, Allesandro and Diarmuid, the two most likely golfers to be late to their own funerals.
Having a chat with John Brown and a couple of others we remarked that it looked like it was going to ba pretty hot Sunday on the course. John referring to his handheld device said it would steadily cool before becoming overcast at 4pm. John, pay for the subscription. After 2 holes down came the rain and we were forced to seek shelter from the deluge. The rain abated after 15 minutes and it was back to the task at hand.
Before we go on this weeks music theme. Hit the play button
Back to the game we had a shotgun start and away we went and a very good pace all day taking 4.30hrs not bad for a field of 56. I was in the same flight as Richard, Axel & Ian, and we were having a private matchplay hence the choice of the video above. It started fairly even, with the 26 handicapper landing his drive 5 or 10 metres in front of the single figure lads. A quick chat not to give too much away, saw on the next hole a well placed ball in the water. Ian and Axel were grinning. Par 5 I drive on to the cart path followed with an iron straight into the back of a tree, which was rectified by a nice rescue just shy of the green, Axel chips in for birdie, I putt for bogie, hole squared. Do the hustle.
Starting the back 9 our foes edged a head and the hunt was on.
The video was shot at the 11th tee box.
Axel and Ian nice drives down the middle of the fairway. Me, once again on the cart path, Richard in the tree line on the right. My second shot clips a tree, third shot lands short of the green. Ian fails to get his ball up the hill on the green and is looking at a long uphill putt for birdie, Richard in a similar position on the right of green. Axel nails his 3rd to within 4 or 5 foot of the hole. My 4th leaves a 6 foot+ uphill putt. In it goes, par beats Axel’s birdie. Everyone, let’s do The Hustle! The look on our opponents faces was priceless. I am now off their Xmas card list. But best of all they won’t be voting me to continue as President, no more 4 more years from these two.
The match swung to and fro a magical shot out of the rough by Richard saw us extend the led to 2 with 3 to play. A sandy par on the 17th from the deepest bunker on the course saw Sandbagger Seabrook with Ever Steady Mau taking the chocolates with 3 up 2 to play. Yes I am a crap golfer but I do have a few moments from time to time.
Prizes
Only a few today as DOGS were handing out a bunch also and there was valuable drinking time being wasted if presentations took too long.
Our man Daniel, stalwart of the Matchplay Team takes low nett with a pretty handy 67
Ian on #3 takes the first birdie money. Well done.
Here’s a picture of the President with all of his friends. First Sandy on #8
That’s it for prizes this week read the DOGS blog for other winners. I know we had TeeSet Sam taking the low Gross and R. Mau a close second.
Last week at JIL
TeeSet got pumped by Jaws. The only good news is that Daniel Park remains undefeated as does our pair of Seabrook/Ure. We expect better things next month with both Captain & Vice Captain back in town. Still plenty of time to climb the ladder to success. Gremilins in WordPress failed to launch last weeks report.
Kojo Monthly Medal Cengkareng Sunday 25

2 for 1 margarita and beer jugs. It takes the pain away. Had a few 2 for 1s last Sunday hoping to do it again this Sunday

Upcoming

He’s a snap from the orphanage where the Rancamaya funds went. It was a timely arrival as placement fees for schools had to be paid. Don Duttlinger also bought the kids lunch for the day, well done Don.
The Sawangan Orphans. Thanks for your help TeeSetters
Royal Krakatoa Golf Weekend 22d & 23rd of June. Sign up on the DOGS MyGolf2u tournament. A great weekend in the planning and great golf. Surely to rival Rancamaya
Some of you may not have recognised the close similarity the President has with Kim Il Song, but it was blind determination that saw the Teeset team turn back the imperialist D.O.G.S. for a rousing victory. I learnt a lot from my golfing holiday to the Hermit Kingdom, Juche!
Inspirational it was, DOGS having had 5 weeks honing their game and pre-selecting their team. But we knew that every heart beats true for the TeeSet crew and side by side we stick together and in any weather you will see us with a grin risking head and shin, if we’re behind then never mind, we’ll fight and fight and win! 11/9 down to the wire, some good luck and bad luck was experience by both teams. As they same the cream always rises to the top and so was the case for this famous victory. So this Sunday when you see the team let them know how happy you are with their performance, as once more the team ventures forth onto the fields of battle to joust with last years JIL champions JAWS. You know we will always fight for victory and we will always see it through, premiers we’ll be this year.
Enough of the nationalistic hoo ha it is just social golf. The weekend at ranch a may was a great couple of days a little bit of team uniform mix up with both teams choosing yellow and a couple
The two teams and two winners in Tom & Cucu
The frustrated top dog with two blokes who came dressed to play for another team that weren’t there then played on the team that came a close second. Yellow was the colour.
The Team Ian &Axel, Anirudh & Holger, Vijay & Bobby, David & Daniel, Simone & JP, Gary &
Sari, Tom & Cucu, Geoff & Michael, Ezra & Bill, Diarmuid & Roberto. Forever part of TeeSet history, forever known as The Victorians.
The charity raffle organise by TeeSet raised Rp 13 million for the orphans with a bottle of Vodka raising 3 million extra in an auction run by Bill Lloyd with a raffle bottle re-donated by Geoff ” I’m on the wagon” Thwaites and bought by David B. The orphans love ya all. Thanks to the donations from Mayapada, Schlumberger, Asian Tigers, Dean Merrilees & David Moore. Another 14 million was raised on the Sunday scramble through fees and mulligans. A great weekend and remember we join the DOGS again at the end of June when we co-host a weekend at Krakatoa. (see last weeks post for details)

Jakarta Interleague and TeeSet at Jagorawi on the 12th of May
We have great looking team this Sunday led by our captain Sam, Gurtke, Thwaites, Ure, Seabrook, Park, Viboon & Arcenas.
We hope to see a lot of other TeeSetters there on Sunday offering your support and enjoying a round of golf. The rainy season is behind us hard fairways and fast greens ahead.
I was having a chat on Saturday with young Axel, a golfer whose services we were lucky enough to procure for the Matchplay event. He asked me how things were and I said fine. Axel then pointed out that he and most other TeeSet members were very appreciative of the efforts of the committee. I was most appreciative of this show of support and said to Axel that the committee, as a group, makes things happen and you shouldn’t be afraid of getting involved as it is a team effort. Thanks Axel.
A smaller than usual monthly medal turnout last Sunday. A bit of a clash with a big Pocksia turnout on Saturday with a long warm down event at Hitoshi and Velma’s house may have led to a slight drop off in numbers. But there was a keen number of golfers and the course looked quiet. 8 flights with a couple of matchplays being completed on the last day before the cut off. The greens were in a rather interesting condition. Looks like some of the Riverside blight may have arrived. The expert team at Cengkareng will soon have at under control.
The weather was perfect overcast but not dark, hot but not blazing midday hot. Starting in the last group i got to see all the others tee off. Vijay was most impressive in group 1, as he should be having played there the previous 5 days. There was a flight of beginners at the teebox before TeeSet set off and the cry of Fore was heard as each player teed off. This may have led to a slow round but a slow round it was. 5 hours, nursing a sore head from the night before I teed up with Dean and Riccardo. Dean was nursing a sore head and body and was in an electric cart. The game started slowly with the trees being punished for being in the wrong place. At the swing things had started to improve and as the sun faded the scoring improved. Good to see Riccardo back and his driving and pitching was much improved. His putting on the other hand needs a bit of work.
Let’s get down to the day’s winners as there is a bit of housekeeping that needs the scribes attention later in this report, and your attention when you read it.
Jason was this month’s Medal winner. With a net 68. A game well played I saw some great tee shots from Jason and he capped the win off with a victory over Claudio in the Matchplay.
Low gross was Mr Mau with a handy 78 off the stick.
First birdie and low putts to Nic. These prizes fall in the new tax year.
Mr Skills, Simon takes long drive and nearest the pin. Well done.
Axel with first Sany on the last hole. Two thumbs up to that effort.
Rancamaya Charity weekend with the D.O.G.S.
We have nearly a full field on Saturday when 20 of TeeSet’s finest do battle with the D.O.G.S.
The D.O.G.S. have taken the last 5 weeks to sharpen their game up against the early pace setters in the Jakarta Interleague comp. The skill and coolness under intense competition should be enough to see off the opposition. If you are in the TeeSet Team please wear the 2022 yellow TeeSet Shirt.
This is a charity day so please buy tickets to support the Orphans. 1 ticket for Rp100k or 3 for Rp200k. Some great prizes kindly donated by Bill from Asian Tigers, Dean, Nic, TeeSet and myself. Thanks guys for going the xtra yard for the kids.
If you are not playing in the matchplay you will be in the DOGS regular Saturday comp and can win the prizes that have each week, which are always good. The fee for Saturday is Rp100k and will be collected by the D.O.G.S.
Sunday we have a charity Scramble where the fee is Rp200k with it all going to help those Orphans. If you have a team let Rod know or he will place you with the other orphans. I got placed. The format is a Florida Scramble. This being the shot that the team chooses to played is played by everyone except the player who put the ball there. Rules will be further explained on the weekend. Great prizes for the winning teams.
The World Cup of Golf June 2 Jagorawi New Course
All I can say is that the event is filling up quickly so get your teams in. We have a few teams that are looking for extra players so if you are an orphan or can’t be stressed organising a team Just let myself or Roger know that you wish to play.
