Have you ever wondered what golf heaven might be like? … if so then come and join us for a weekend away at the beloved Rancamaya – and find out!
The outline program for the weekend, based at the “R Hotel” is as follows:
Friday 12th May 2023: JAWS regular game
For those with plenty of golfing stamina, JAWS will organise their regular Friday game at Rancamaya to kick-off the week-end. Please check out the arrangements for the game on Mygolf2U and sign-up if you wish to join. With Saturday being the charity scramble, the JAWS admin team have kindly offered to contribute the game fees from Friday towards the charity donation.
Saturday May 13th, 2023: 2 person scramble game + BBQ evening
A day in 2 parts with time to check-in to your accommodation in-between if you have not already done so.
Part 1: 2 player charity scramble
Following on from the success of last year’s event, we will again be having a 2 player charity scramble event on Saturday with a shot-gun tee off from around 12pm: details on timing to be updated by WhatsApp and online once we have the input from the starter so watch out for these closer to the day. Men off white tees and ladies of red – form you own pairings, sign up on Mygolf2u (DOGS game on the app) and advise Rod Williams of your pairings so he can make sure you and your partner are in the same pairing : – ).
Game fee of Rp200k per player will also give you a “super mulligan” ticket with additional mulligans available to purchase. All mulligan sales and game fees will go to the charity. Return your scorecard to Roger Finnie or Rod Williams after the game and enjoy a relaxing refreshment at the clubhouse before getting ready for dinner. Alternatively, for those who felt they came out second best to the course the masseuses in the hotel will be ready to put you back into shape whilst those finding the mountain climate too cool can warm up in the sauna or Jacuzzi throughout their stay.
Part 2: BBQ and Prize-giving
From 19:00 till late, there will a BBQ in, or in front of, the Club House for all those registered (don’t worry, the distance from the club house to the hotel is no longer than a short par 3), during which we will also award the prizes from the day’s event and hold a small auction of some donated prizes to add to the funds collected for the charity. Some beers will be laid on by the societies but you are greatly encouraged to bring a or a few bottles of wine, as well as any other beverages you might want to consume or share.
Sunday May 14th, 2023: Match vs DOGS and regular game
Tee Set and D.O.G.S. will be hosting a joint day so sign-up for the Sunday game under the D.O.G.S. game on the Mygolf2u app irrespective of which team or society you are playing in. Pairings for the match and the social game will be made by Rod Williams so those not in the match for the Juergen Degert Trophy, please advise him of your preferred pairings, if any.
Shot-gun start at around 11.30am is planned so please register by around 10.30am at the Clubhouse – we expect a large turnout both because of the popularity of the weekend and as it is also the “Big Dog” presentation day. Prize-giving will be made at the clubhouse after the round, supplemented by the remaining sponsored refreshments left over from Saturday night. Please remember to submit your scorecard to Rod Williams before showering so he can collate the scores and calculate the winners for the day as timely as possible – greatly helped of course by players entering their results on the app.
After the prize giving and a few beers for the road it is off you go – just don’t forget to check your family out of the hotel if you brought them and are not staying over until the Monday and take them back to Jakarta with you.
Hotel and Rooms
The golf course and the excellent R Hotel are within walking distance and there is a buggy service for those who would like to take it, quite useful on Saturday evening after the BBQ at a minimum! With many players wishing to make individual arrangements for themselves and families, as last year we will not be coordinating hotel bookings for the group. The R Hotel fills up quickly so anyone keen to stay there should look online as soon as possible. For those looking for other options, there are several other establishments within easy access to the golf course and these can also be found through the regular booking sites.
