– Each team should consist of four players. Each team shall preferably include one A grade player who will be the captain. Unless specific requests are made then teams will be selected by the committee. Beginners will be given a handicap of 40 (if women) and 36 (if men). Players who do not have a Tee Set handicap will be given a handicap by the committee.
– All players should tee off at each hole.
– The team captain should select the drive to be taken and mark its position with a tee peg (this must be within 6 inches and not nearer the hole).
– The other players then retrieve their balls.
– The player whose ball has been chosen then does NOT participate in the next shot.
– The remaining players then play within six inches of the tee peg (not nearer the hole) – golf balls can be placed on closely mown areas but must be dropped if the chosen ball in play is in the rough or a hazard.
– The same sequence of play is followed until the green is reached.
– On the green the ball chosen is marked a putter head length away from its resting place and no closer to the hole; every player should putts from the same spot in turn.
– Each player must mark their ball after putting. Play continues from each chosen position until the ball is holed.
– The score for the hole is the total number of shots from the chosen spot (including the tee shot). A minimum of two tee shots per player must be used, and the card must indicate whose drive was chosen for each hole. The remaining drive can be used by any of the players. All other rules of golf apply to the “Ball in Play” In particular please be aware of Rule 14.2 – team members are not allowed to position themselves on or close to an extension of the line of play or the line of putt behind the ball.
– At the end of the 18 holes the total for each hole is added together and Team Handicap subtracted to give the total net score for the round. The winning team will be the one with the lowest net score.
– The Team Handicap is calculated by adding the handicaps of the team members together and dividing the result by 6 e.g. (18+12+28+36)/6 = 94/8 = 15.67).
