On Sunday, Tee Set took on the unpredictable Sentul Swingers in the first round of the 2015 Interleague team match play competition.
Lots missing from 2014’s regular line up including Sam Westen, Simon Reynolds, Peter Reichlmeier, Geoff Thwaites, Neil Mullins and George “Pulpy” Bevege for a variety of reasons including left-the-country, out-of-country and “otherwise engaged”.
Captain Ric was therefore compelled to ring the changes and bring in plenty of new blood, with first time appearances from Aljosja, Anlo, Divya, Joseph, Barbora and Daniel, while veterans Chris Murchison and Craig Ewers were the only ones bringing any Interleague experience to the Tee Set line-up.
Quite a challenge therefore and that the team came through with flying colours in these circumstances with a 10-0 win was inspirational – and bodes well for the rest of the Interleague season 🙂
Rather tight in the singles with Chris 3 and 2 up, and Aljosja up 2 and 1 before our first doubles team of Anlo and Divja crashed the Sentul Swingers party by handing out an 8 and 7 drubbing. Second doubles team was Craig and Joseph who also won convincingly with a strong 5 and 3.
The final doubles team of Barbora, just 14 years old and Daniel at just a whisker under 10, and head just over the steering wheel, took on the Swingers’ 8 and 16 handicappers – and came through with a rather convincing 8 and 6!!
What a blast for the kids but well done to the whole team of course.
We are now on top of the table – and with next month’s game against the reigning champions, the Cloggies. Bring it on.
Solid support from the Tee Set wings with two extra flights following the groups around the course. Norman and Lina Bunter with “just in time” Tetty in one flight and first timers to Jags, Mick Dodsworth, Jaroslav Gaisler and Jana Gaislerova who all looked a little shell-shocked after the round. Hope they remember to restock with more balls in time for next Sunday 🙂
Jags management are trying out a new beer supplier and introduced its latest incentive to sip a little Bali Hai The advertising ploy appears to have worked well as she had already run out of cold ones by early afternoon!
Finally, Norman also discovered why there is a Rp50K surcharge to join Interleague when he was awarded the nearest to the pin prize. Those pewters don’t grow on trees Norman.
See ya at Permata Sentul on Sunday!! …. Tee Set

Well done the pocket battleships. Bring it on Cloggies!
