The Day

ceng110916a

A great turnout as usual for Cengkareng, absent this time of Joseph who was off carving up Rainbow Hills with a  67 off the stick.

Instead this week we feature Bushy surfing Cengkareng, discovering that there is a space for his esky of cold beers.  Bushy was the only one brave enough to trial the devices.  He found that the novelty wore after after a few holes, as he did donuts waiting for his playing partners walking behind to catch up. May have been the beers too Bushy 🙂

Ric is featured in action today at the start of his silky smooth swing and King and John are back with us doing what they do best.

The weather was great until right near the end of the round when the heavens opened cooling everybody off.  Everybody soldiered on and finished their rounds.

So many newcomers listed below I won’t mention them all here.  We are unable to provide photos today but we will catch you as you come back to us hopefully over the next weeks.  A lot of welcome backs too, Ahsan after 58 weeks topping the table, Tadashi after 20 weeks, Matt and King after 19 weeks and our photographer and Master of the Monthly Medal Pastis Pascal returning after 15 weeks following a return home to Canada.

The day was rounded off as usual with some quiet beers, good food and service and the magnificent frozen margies.  Thanks Cengkareng for a great day.

The Play

First of all, apologies for grading stuff ups, which led to incorrect prizes.  These are now corrected in the table above. We will certainly honour the prizes given out but also catch up with those who missed out, I think we have managed to catch up with you all except Peter for your net 66, sorry mate, next time. You ran off to the airport before we could catch you.

A lot of great scores in a fairly packed A Grade. Daniel had the lowest score of 78 and was awarded the lowest net score of 67.  Simon’s round of 79 was the best off the blue tees and was awarded Low Gross. Laurie’s round of 67 was well worth recognising in B Grade, as Peter and KK’s are, even thought they were recorded in C Grade, oops. Anirudh took C Grade net with a tasty 69 net.

In the skills prizes, they were really shared around. Mike and Nick sharing Most Improved (or as it has come to be known Last to Wake Up), Santi started a front nine of 37 with a sandy par on the first.  We are not sure which of the Gaisler kids sunk the ball first but Barbora won the prize for first birdie.  Mo had a rare day of brilliance with the putter to win Low Putts with 27 and King returned to win the money with a first par for handicap over 30. It had to be early in the round before the pastis kicked in.

And now for the real winners….Most Strokes was shared between Jeff, John and Lars – but no fine was levied as they already had paid for their skirts.  Joining them were 9 others, glamorous as usual.

Here they are in all their glory:

Next Up

Yes, it’s been a while but we have all got over our brief enforced separation and we are back to our much loved Imperial Golf Klub with a “K” this Sunday. Tee off 11.48am; green fees 770k.

Register here as usual.

Lots of interest in the World Cup of Tee Set on 2nd and 9th October.  Please start putting your teams together but bear with us.  A special webpage with rules and registrations is in production and will be posted this week.

Also of interest to some is the annual Bintangs golf day on 30th September.  For those interested, click here for our Classifieds Page.  Tee Set is not associated with this event so all enquiries should be directed to the organisers.

Dear Tee Set, I have played with your group a year ago with my friend Jiro Kamikataguchi. I would like to ask if I could sign up a friend of mine who is visiting Jakarta this weekend to play with the group this Sunday? Unfortunately I have a knee injury so I cannot join. Would that be possible? I tried to contact Tom Alcedo if he could help with this but he may be away from Jakarta. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you. Putu Kamayana
