Gading Raya Mudik Bliss

No folks this was not the mob fighting their way to Gading Raya to join TeeSet. It was the mob that each lunar calendar marking the Holy Day of Idul Fitri embark on the second largest seasonal migration of humankind. It is also a season where city folk take flash manufactured biscuits to the villages of their grandparents and return with a staggering array of krupuks and kripiks and other traditional snacks.

Back to the golf, Gading was pretty empty last Sunday morning as Jakarta empties out and expats take advantage of the long break to head home or to Bali. A big mistake this is when Jakarta is at its best. No traffic low, pollution, drinking beer out of coffee mugs and cheap golf on uncrowded courses. A few late cancellations meant some late rejigs but the course said we could tee off when ready. So the first group off tee box 10 was away before 11.30. It was a very quick round even with Gading getting up to their old tricks of slipping in a flight or two on the swing. The greens were in reasonable knick but a bit slow with most needing a trim. This is the usual case this time of the years as courses take time to work the greens whilst playing numbers are low.

Conditions were hot at the start, like oven hot but as the day progressed the temp dropped and a thunderstorm cheekily threatened to rain upon TeeSet but was seen off. The round produced some very good scores and most found the greens playable. A bit of a sorehead so off to the prizes and other stuff

Other Stuff

The sign says no smoking, drinking water is not encouraged at TeeSet warm downs.

A few of the golfers headed to Sale for a feed and a few drinks. TeeSet camaraderie

The Winners

Best Stableford Nic with 39. Seems Mr. Moore had a 39 also and mentions of a count back? Anyways we will fix it at Imperial well done to Nic and David

Well done Richard on taking low gross with a handy 78 off the stick and a lovely birdie to finish the round.

First sandy par to David on the 6th with a lovely pin hitting chip.

Joe with his range finder was always going to be hard to beat in the low putts. Well done on 27 slaps with the flat stick.

The First Lady prises the money out of Nic’s hand for first birdie on the 3rd hole.
