PARTY TIME:

Citra and her band from Bandung never lets us down when we want to party. It didn’t take long before all the ladies were up dancing and singing.

The entertainment was interrupted a couple of times to present all the lady golfers with a posy of flowers, door prizes by the dozen and of course the special category prizes and the major prizes including the Tee Set WORLD CUP champions.

SPECIAL THANKS must go to CITRA and her band, Ibu CUCU CHANDRA for her managing the purchase and distribution of prizes, Ibu HAYATI (ADHE) ATMADJA for working with Riverside and coordinating all the administration, Miss AMEL from Riverside for making sure that there was all smooth running on the course and ensuring we all had a safe event. There are so many others that helped make this one of the MAJOR EVENTS of the year.

Jeremy did an excellent job of deciphering the score cards and entering the final scores on the Master Score Sheet.

Team captains did a sterling job of mobilising, outfitting and motivating their teams. Thank you and we look forward to hosting you again next year.

Jeremy the scribe

HIGHLIGHTS: (The Thomas Report)

Tee Set 3rd of July 2022 for the WORLD CUP 2022 at Riverside.

The world of golf came to Riverside on Sunday and what a day! Sun, fun, and we’d only just begun!
Lots of great team scoring and individual highs and lows.
Sandra Novita’s handicap busting round deserves mention.
El Guapo showed that he can play better than most even when jetlagged. His rapier-like wit didn’t suffer either.
Team Germany’s caddies perked up whenever a par5 bogey was recorded. Can’t imagine why!
The Bandung-based band scored the musical equivalent of an eagle when they kicked into ‘Sweet Child of Mine’.
A good time was had by all.

NEXT WEEK:

NEXT WEEK; Regular event at Imperial, scoring format will be stableford, white and red tee boxes

Tee Set KOJO Monthly Medal game 2045 Cengkareng 26 June 2022

RESULTS:

WINNERS:

Ian 2nd, Gaurav (medal winner) & Jeremy 3rd — Dave Prosser low gross on count back

SKILL PRIZES:

In order as per prize list above

HIGH LIGHTS : (The Thomas Report)

Tee Set June 26 Cengkareng

Except for some wind in our faces (as usual!) on the long par 3 #12, it was a muggy day with high overcast and little breeze. In other words – a perfect day for golf.

Ian Butcher stamped his authority on the course by carding an eagle on his first hole. After a few more holes Ian told the course record engraver to stand down.
JP Seveke pulled off a rare feat with a sandy birdie on #12.
Jeremy hit his second shot to the back of the green on par 5 #1. Okay, been done before. But .. this one was from 260m!!

In matchplay Velma beat Dougy 7&5 with an amazing performance of solid driving, great bunker play and close-to-the-hole long putting. On the other hand Dougy’s ball hit every invisible spike mark as most putts didn’t find the cup.
In the Marcelo battle last name beat first name as Emiliano topped Mars 2&1.

Tee Set game 2044 at Riverside with JIL19 June

Riverside hole 3 par 4

RESULTS:

WINNERS:

First place AKHIL AGGARWAL, Second place DAN JAVIER, Third place VALMA YOLANDA

SKILL PRIZES:

TOM GRACE Low puts, SHAWN BERG first birdie, VELMA YOLANDA & JANE FINNIE first par HC ≥30

HIGH LIGHTS: (the Thomas Report)

Jakarta Interleague Report

Great day for Tee Set as we scored a lopsided win over Cloggies. The 8-2 tally pushed us into a tie for second in the JIL standings. Well done!

Simon 1 up
Shawn 4&3
Geoff/Sam 3&1
Dave/Jeff 3&1
Jude/Arnold down 3&2

Highlights – a mix of Tee Set and JIL

A wonderful day for golf after weeks of late afternoon rain interference.

Steven Vette came through with possibly the highlight of the year by acing #14. HIO’s are very rare – hats off to Steve!

Simon Reynolds and Hitoshi carded
3 birdies each in the heat of JIL competition. When these guys get hot it’s like watching the pros!

Sami Kekonen – the human highlight reel – crushed a drive deep into the jungle only to have bounce out. He calmly stuck his iron to 6 feet and sank the the birdie putt.

On the lowlight ledger: many matches were bogged down by slow play ahead. We need to start earlier or get the course officials to move things along or put a timer on every slow putter or all three. 5-1/2 hours is unfair, frustrating and ultimately unacceptable. Nobody likes finishing in the dark.

HOLE IN ONE on hole 14 CONGRATULATIONS !!!

Jakarta Inter League and Tee Set regular at Riverside Tee Off 12:00 noon. We need everyone to turn up for this event because Tee Set is on a ROLL. This could be our time in the sun.

Good morning JIL team!
June JIL on tap this Sunday against the Cloggies at Riverside. They’ll have their finger in the dyke so a Tee Set tsunami might just float them.
Please advise if you are available.

WORLD CUP 2022: game # 2044

Good news is that we have 14 flights representing their countries. I note that Australia hasn’t submitted its team YET.

Registering for this event must be by contacting Ms Adhe with Name of Team, Name of Captain, names of other team members. This is our first attempt at registering a team event on Mygolf2u but that will not stop us from having a fun day. Please bring your flag and other distinguishing paraphernalia

HIGHLIGHTS :

THE THOMAS REPORT;

‘Slope’ – a golf course measure of difficulty.
‘Slope’ – a tricky change in elevation on fast greens.
‘Sloppy’ – a scorecard affected by rainy holes and OB markers.
Yes, Jagorawi took a bite out of Tee Setters on Sunday. A gorgeous day turned to heavy rain resulting in truncated rounds for everyone. C’est la vie! (Note: Pre-start highlights included a French pronunciation lesson for Rosie.)
Early spotlight was on Hitoshi’s birdie on #1 and Dean’s one-hop birdie on #2.
Mid-round saw Roger build a Match Play lead over Michael big enough to win with six to play.
Craig and Hitoshi will need a replay as the rain cut short their match.
Après le déluge the Tee Setters inadvertently split into two groups that eventually joined up for prizes and announcements. Hitoshi’s smooooth whisky and lots of red wine and beer kept the postgame discussions from getting too analytical.

Never missed a weekend since 1983

I look forward to seeing you all next Sunday at Riverside.

TEE SET game 2042 @ Gading Raya 5 June

THIS WEEKS WINNERS

Ezra 44 points, Cucu 42 points & Douglas 44 points.

Tom and Graham first Birdie on 2nd hole
Richard Low Gross 77
Farewell Timo Karonen
Welcome Back Graham & Siti
New Member Jeon Eunjae

NEXT WEEK : Jagowari game 2043 Regular White Tee Box

HIGHLIGHTS:

Just as the skies cleared for D-Day on Jun 6 way back when, the sun came out and stayed with us on June 5 while many areas got plenty of rain. After elementary arithmetic was applied to the buggy issue, off we went on a course ripe for scoring – fairways in tip-top shape and consistent greens. Stableford points were in abundance as Gading Raya gave in to several great rounds.
Ezra (Who needs a driver?) Alexander shot the best score of his life!
Dougy McQuater tied Ezra’s gross by matching the best score of his life!
These guys didn’t get much exercize.
Cucu’s net 66 (including two birdies) and 42 points couldn’t equal the Best Evers.
Richard Mau, still The Man at Gading Raya, had low gross.

Thanks must go to Tom, Cucu and Adhe for holding the fort while our President and Vice President were unable to participate. 🙏🏻

WORLD CUP :

This major event is coming on 3 July at Riverside. It is great to see so many already registered. To add a little something special, please bring along your national flag and some items of apparel to dazzle the crowd.

Sponsors for this event are urgently needed, so please donate anything at all, like stuff you no longer need and or you can get your hands on for the right price. Adhe will act as our go to for this.

Thank you all for your participation and making Tee Set the go to golfing society on Sunday afternoon.Never missed a weekend since 1983

I look forward to seeing you all at Jagowari next Sunday.

NEXT WEEK: GAME # 2041 2 GADING RAYA

HIGHLIGHTS:

Cenkareng giveth and Cengkareng taketh away. On the plus side a beautiful golfing day with the course in super shape despite the recent downpours. On the minus side the overbooked morning and/or general snail’s pace of play left many Tee Setters frustrated with some finishing in the dark. However, there was a variety of sparkling shots worth noting:
Bobby Cangkrama birdied the first two holes the second of which when he sailed a chip into the jungle only to see it hit the pin and drop straight in.
Sami ‘Bryson’ Kekonen used his trusty driver/wedge combo to reach a par5 but missed the eagle putt.
Sally Deane, eyeing the setting sun, decided to hurry things up by stroking in a 16m putt. Center cut!
Mark Johnson pulled out some of his short-game magic with a sandy par using his putter from the bunker.
Bobby C. wasn’t finished .. on 18 he played a four (4!) skip water shot and converted the birdie. The legend grows.

MATCH PLAY 2022:

Match Play recap:

Juju over JP 3&2

Michael Seabrook over Diana 4&3

George/Viboon tied. TBA

Simon/Michael tied. TBA

GALLERY:

Once again, thank you all for joining us and maintaining our unbroken “never missed a weekend since 1983′

Please join us again next Sunday at Gading Raya. It would be much appreciated if you would register before Wednesday and last chance to elect a group will be Thursday afternoon.

One more thing that I want you to do is appoint one of your flight to be the scorer and enter the score after each hole. This will make the Leader Board more exciting and also take some of the load of Ms Adhe. ( Thank you Adhe for your great work)

C U all next week.

Super day for golf at Riverside. High overcast, no rain. A bit slow for reasons unknown but all’s well that ends well.
Some outstanding performances and spectacular shot-making.
Sami pulled a John Daly: drive/wedge/eagle.
Axel (75) was awesome for the opposition and Adrian (77) almost as good. Both had best-evers and won their JIL matches. The Axel/Shawn/Adrian/Dougy fourball recorded 8 birdies.
Patrick and JP hit their opponents with the old right/left combination and triumphed 3&1.
The US of A (Mike and Jeff) bolstered the American presence in SE Asia with a 2&1 win.
Nick and Arnold kept the DOGS at bay and finished all-square.
Tee Set came out ahead against DOGS by a 7-3 count. A big thank you to those who threw their hats in the ring and helped notch an impressive ‘W’.

WORLD CUP 2022

At this early stage everything looks like another great event. I don’t see an Australian 🇦🇺team registered. There must be a couple of Ozies out there that can be competitive. If you haven’t done so please enter your team now.

NEXT WEEK: game 2041 Monthly Medal @ Cengkareng.

Thank you all for your great effort to bring Tee Set back to life.

Also a big thank you the George and the committee and of course Ms Adhe for their devotion to the administration of our events. 🙏🏻

I look forward to seeing you in mid June.

TEE SET MATCH PLAY 2022

Kayla Graham 2 up over Tom Grace.
Cucu Chandra and Velma Yolanda tied. To be replayed.
Michael Seabrook and Diana Budiarti rained out. To be replayed.

HIGHLIGHTS:

With a huge development in progress all around it Kedaton continues to see improvements in grooming, greens, and fairway conditions. Tee Set arrived with a great 50+ contingent, broad nationality support, terrific turnout by the ladies, and several MP’s on tap.
The skies opened up after 6 to 8 holes for most players but we sat it out and continued post deluge on the surprisingly playable course. The second downpour ended the round for some groups but others soldiered on and finished in the gloaming.
MP results had Velma and Cucu all-square through 18; Michael and Diana rained out; Kayla 2-up over Tom including a short-putt birdie on Index 1 hole to end the round in style.

Afters @ TELAGA

After the rain soaked round Tee Setters joined the Wolfpack for a superb seafood dinner at Telaga Resto just minutes from Kedaton. Live band, great food variety, lively repartee – a super follow-up to golf.
But wait, there’s more! Most of the crowd caravanned over to Rav’s lair and partied on. With Jeremy tending bar, Roger holding forth on topics of the day and the ladies wearing out the indoor putting mat, winding down lasted into the wee hours.
