The Day
Not usual that we lead with a skirt photo but this is a beauty. While only recording 15 skirts below, there are 16 in this photo (must be a record) and we know John Stewart snuck out to avoid the wig. If it all adds up this would be a record equalling 17 skirts. If not we have some very enthusiastic cross dressers.
Getting to Cengkareng is a breeze and many players arrived so early they could have brekky or their first beers around 930am. Made for a long day, especially when the starter shifted us back to 12.25 tee off….a bit rude after they promised to look after us last time. Sure there were grumbles but we know there is no point and some of us found ways to pass the time. Not sure what Chris was thinking about here.
A big Tee Set welcome to Irene, Max and Narongsak for their first games with us (pictured below) and welcome back to a number of players after 40 plus weeks away: Ken, Matt and Brad, with Rusty living up to his name after 39 weeks away.
The Play

Compared to the off field performances, the play had its moments. Highlights, although not for him, were Joseph Peries 73 off the stick (could have easily been 67 without close putts missed), Lis Wymer’s continued improvement for a 72 net to win C grade, Joe d’CRuz return to form with a net 72 to win A grade and James Ross round of the day 66 net to take the B grade.

Wina, our fantastic course co-ordinator, also deserves a mention with a 67 and great matchplay win. In the only controversy of the day, Ken won Low Putts in a four man countback…best back nine guys…tough Treasurer. Max took First Sandy and gets two photos here because he didn’t quite make it to the group one. Jess Kindler also found some form winning 1st par (over 30 handicap) in a net par round, Ronald snuck in for first birdie and John had most improved after starting with a skirt and not really getting better until the 10th. .
Skirts added to the bulging coffers – far too many to mention – and Mel and Mark joined each other here as “winners” of Most Strokes and Monster Putter respectively. Irene was given a first gamer reprieve. Mel’s 9 in the bunker brought back memories of the Singing President’s dramatic fall out of contention after just as many in the sand at the Bandung Bash a few years back….not the same bunker though.
The Tee Set Episcopalian Orthodox Occasional Sunday Ensemble
In the ever expanding repertoire of Tee Set documenters, we now move to video, perhaps for the last time.
We were pleased to see that the ensemble finally escaped from practice in windy Church Halls and came out of the cupboard to display all their talents yesterday at Cengkareng, starting off with some old spirituals before going on to their soon to be signature tune…you will have to watch and listen on Youtube here.
Ensemble leader, Bill “Rasta” Lloyd was later quoted as saying that this had “been an encouraging start and that the Cengkareng Frozen Margaritas had been a great help”. The Singing President was glad for the relief after two big nights had finally caught up.
There are other things we have to tell you but I can’t be bothered now.
Next Up
Back to the home of the Tee Set Championships, Matoa Nasional, always a good time, an 11am start (fingers and toes crossed!) and hopefully very little traffic on a long weekend…steer clear of the tolls. Register here as usual.

The shower line was long, but the number of skirts short with only 3 cross dressers this week, absent VP Mel the King of Skirts. The relatively short distance to the red tees on most holes contributed to the low skirt count, with only a totally botched drive preventing passing the ladies tee. Craig Edwards showed his group exactly what was necessary on the final Par 3, after basking in the glory of a birdie on the previous Par 4 after a brilliant chip in “gobbler”, he hit the ground a foot before the ball, and came crashing down to earth as his ball dribbled forward a few feet. Joined here by Mike.
With hubby Ric captaining Interleague to a stunning comeback win (below), Liz Wymer took the spotlight and was beaming after a lightning round for someone so new to the sport, winning the prize for 1st par over 30 on her second hole, and just being one off low puts prize for the day with a 29. When asked by the VP on the day how she achieved such a low putt count, Liz attributed it to her new 3 Wood!! He assumed she had misheard the question and thought he had asked about her low gross score overall, and not that she had discovered a better putting stick. All about confidence that a new club brings…hati hati hubby, looks like some more spending coming up!

Last week’s newcomer Joshua (in red shorts here) had the round of the day with a 76 off the stick. He has yet to qualify for a Tee Set handicap but Interleague Captain Ric is already signing Joshua up as our next deadly weapon. Pocket rocket Daniel made up for Senayan, this time winning the countback for Net A grade from an unlucky Bags, who suffered doubly by meeting an in-form Mick Dodsworth in matchplay.
Last time we visited Jack’s course at BSD, Bags snared a hole in one. We are back there again this week, playing off the whites this time, with the numbers expected a hole in one may not be so lucky…but who’s gonna knock it back?
The Day

We may need to recall our friend Sherlock to hunt for clues in the garage of the VP for Almost Everything as our beloved monkey has gone missing after Senayan. It was last seen in this shot….all three Tee Setters in the shot have not been seen since Senayan so that may be a clue. If any of you read this and you have the monkey, please send us a photo from your current location with the monkey (a la garden gnome). Or bring it next week.
The Singing President trailed that there would be some analysis coming up on skirts and he was right. At that time however the data was rather raw and the Web Guy was keen to add number of rounds played in achieving those skirts in order to arrive at a “skirt propensity”.
While keeping golf fun is our top priority, competition is becoming fierce in matchplay, in weekly net events, monthly medal stableford and in the eclectic. We are seeing more mistakes in scoring which affect competitions and unnecessarily piss people off. With more players and more competitions coming up this year we need to get this right.
