The Day
Fresh from attending the Remembrance Sunday service and laying a wreath along with, inter alia, other Society representatives, President & JSAS Chieftain Roger Finnie hot-footed it home to change and head out to BSD to be joined by 32 other Tee Setters.
The course was quiet which meant we got a slightly earlier than scheduled tee off and although a pre-storm wind kicked up around the turn, we were all to finish in good time under bright sunny skies. First groups were back in under 4 hours and all the prize-giving completed around 5pm, leaving plenty of time for many of us to head off to join Axel Hertzke and his family at Casa de la Mexicana for a post round social.
The greens were in great condition and the fairways running fast so some good scores were returned on the day as further mentioned below. No new comers this week but we did welcome back the 2 Hertzke brothers who were out visiting Axel again, Jochen after 196 weeks and Kai after 45 weeks. A warm welcome back also to Kim Pham after 38 weeks.
Thank you to VP Ric Wymer for managing the scoring and reporting on the day and to the BSD team who looked after us to make the visit very enjoyable for all.
The Play
Playing off the White Tees and with the hard fairways, the Treasurer was not expecting any Skirts so he was pleasantly surprised to have a solitary contribution on the day which he able to collect at the after party from our host Axel Hertzke. No Monster Putter on the day and unfortunately our Most Strokes, Timo Toivonen, had already gone by the prize-giving so no photo to enliven our album. Bill Lloyd took home First Birdie and Kai Hertzke First Sandy whilst Aljosja Van Dorssen and Tan Chee Hua were both happy to share the prize for Most Improved.
Although beaten in a count-back for Low Net A, Mark Johnson was our Low Putter on the day whilst Jeff Landau took home Low Gross. Joseph D’Cruz was out Low Net on the day after a 66 to take home B grade where he was joined by Roger Finnie and Timo Karonen as our other Low Net winners on the day.
Congratulations to all our winners and the results are here: BSD 20191110 Results and photos here.
Next Up: Riverside Sunday 17th November 11.30am shotgun
This Sunday we take the short trip down to Junction 19 on the Jagorawi toll to visit the excellent Riverside course. The Greg Norman designed Riverside is always one of the most interesting challenges on the Tee Set schedule with the Shark’s trademark optical illusions regularly fooling the unwary.
In addition to our weekly schedule, this Sunday sees the final round of the 2019 Jakarta Inter-League season as Tee Set’s team, currently sitting in 2nd place, looks to try and overall haul defending champions and current leaders, Tin Cups. As its the final round, we will follow the game with a prize presentation buffet in the function room upstairs. Food and some beers have been arranged for all players and will be included in the fee collected before play (expected at Rp200k although this may increase slightly depending on the final funds on hand with the JIL committee) but players are welcome to bring other refreshments to wash down the dinner as corkage has been kindly waived for the post-game celebration.
As usual, for those Tee Set players participating in JIL (whether for Tee Set or otherwise), please also sign up as normal for the weekly competition so we can capture you for both events.
To join us for the fun of one of Jakarta’s finest courses on Sunday just sign up here as usual. Green fees of Rp850,000 including a shared cart and some free range balls with a tee time of 11.30pm: please be there before 10.30am as we will have a shot-gun start so it takes a little more time to get bags/players organized and out to the respective holes
Tee Set Championships: Last call – 16 spots remaining!
The 2019 Tee Set Championships will be held on Sunday 24th November 2019 at Matoa Nasional, just 13 days from today!!. As of this morning, we have 96 players signed up already so it will be another bumper event and we expect to have a full field.

Election of the President: Nominations close 17th Nov.

We would therefore like ask for nominations for the position of President for 2019/20 and also any expressions of interest to join the Committee. Please send your nominations to our master of the electoral process, Keith Miller at: keith.steuart.miller@gmail.com
Nominations will close 1 week before the Championships (17th November) to enable us to prepare the necessary voting slips and thank you to Keith for again assisting the Committee in coordinating the nominations and voting.
Finally, and as always, if nominating some-one other than yourself, please ensure the nominee is willing to stand!
