Senayan National: Sunday 3rd September 2017

The Day

A long holiday week-end saw 36 Tee Setters take the relatively short and traffic free trip to Senayan National. Bounded by apartments and shopping malls, the course is a green oasis in the center of the City providing a different test of golf to our usual courses; placing greater emphasis on players’ short games and putting on the excellent greens which play fast and true. Only 3 rounds of Par or better was a testament to the challenge Senayan provides but with a relatively short walk around the course, we were able to finish in good time and enjoy our Sunday evenings at home earlier than normal.

Two newcomers this week with a warm Tee Set welcome to Taylor Bowles and Alberto Giraudi, son of Paolo.

Another long welcome back this week with Peter Masters who joined us after a very impressive 183 weeks and Joe Alchi after a more modest 36 weeks.

The Play

Although relatively short there were a few longer carries to the red tees and this was enough to return a healthy 5 skirts with Chris Lever, Gaurav Dass, Matthew Cherrett, Mike Harling and Nick Thomas all fined as well as getting to enjoy the Tee Set dress up selection.

The tricky greens and fast surfaces saw the Monkey out of the bag this week with Jonathan Quek just pipping several others for Monster Putter with a high 46 strokes.

Gaurav Dass managed to avoid a second fine for his Most Strokes of 12 shots on a hole and to recover his investment with First Sandy for his efforts on hole 1. Debbie Minicola was the sole handicapper of 30 and above with a Par to take home that prize, celebrating here with Geoff and Kelly.

In the absence of Alberto Giraudi to share the lime-light, Taylor Bowles took home Most Improved. Neither First Birdie or Low Putts were awarded with the winners already receiving prizes as in addition to Gaurav’s prize above,  Simon Reynolds took home Low Gross for his excellent effort of 75 shots.

Jonathan Quek showed that his Monster Putter prize did not distract from an otherwise excellent day’s golf by taking Low Net C grade with his Net 70 where he was joined by Glen Menyennett’s best of the day Net 67 in winning Low Net B grade and President Roger Finnie’s Low Net A grade of 68.

On the last day of the current round of the Match Play, Simon Reynolds with his strong round edged out Santi Miller 5 & 3 to move onto the bracket final.

As usual, photos of the day can be found here and more detailed player results here.

Next Up: Matoa 11.48AM

As our initial plan of BSD would have clashed with a large event, this week sees us return to the home of the Tee Set Championship and an opportunity for you to get in an early practice round at Matoa.

A pleasant walk for those who like to stretch their legs or enjoy a relaxing afternoon riding the rolling fairways in a cart all for a very reasonable Rp650,000.

If you wish to join us please sign up here.

Senayan National: 12pm Sunday 3rd September 2017

This week is a holiday week-end which is a chance for us all to enjoy macet-free inner city Jakarta. Senayan is a great walking course and one which forces us to use every club in the bag; the greens are usuallyin good and the facilities top notch. Green fees are a reasonable Rp800,000 (walking) but carts are a steep Rp500,000 per cart and beer prices are even steeper so be warned!

There are some important to know Senayan local rules (power lines and flower beds – some blue stakes free drop, some no stakes penalty drop) so read the score card.

Given that we will be starting off holes 1 and 10, and the front nine is par 36 and the back nine is 33, Most Improved will be calculated as if everybody was starting off hole 1…but make sure you mark your starting hole at the top of your card as other prizes will be awarded as usual.

A reminder to the 8 players still in the match-play that this week-end marks the end of the period to complete the matches. Match-play Supremo James Ross will otherwise adjudicate the winner of each unplayed match.

Whether you are completing the match-play or just enjoying your holiday week-end golf day in Jakarta and wish to join us, please register here as usual.

Schedule

Due to changes in the dates for certain events, the Committee have updated the proposed schedule. Please see the updated event list through to the end of the year here.

Padang Modern: Sunday 27th August 2017

modern summary

The Day

Sunday saw 40 Tee Setters head out under perfect blue skies to Padang Modern Golf for the August Monthly medal and what was meant to be the final round of Eclectic Cycle VI with an exciting finish in store as the top 4 players were tied heading into Sunday’s round. Although primed for a later than usual start at 12.30pm, there was some consternation when we were informed that the start would be delayed further due to the late finish of the morning monthly medal round.

As time ticked on a few Tee Setters decided the uncertainty of finishing was not worth waiting for and departed leaving 37 players who were keen to play if at all possible. With Brenda and Wina supporting President Roger Finnie and with a start time of 1.30pm looming, some quick negotiations with the Management led to a Rp250,000 discount on the Green Fees to cover the risks of not finishing and 10 free jugs of beer to keep everybody happy before and after the round.

An executive decision was made to postpone the last round of the Eclectic until September’s Monthly medal round and so on the thrice revised tee off time of 1.30pm we headed to ensure Tee Set’s record of never missing a weekend in 34 years was maintained.  With everyone keeping up a good pace, we all managed to finish our rounds as dark fell although some of the carts required a push to get them back to the club house.

The longer wait gave us the opportunity to welcome father and daughter newcomers, Scotty and Kayla Graham as well as Steve Moruzzi.

We also had some impressive welcome backs with Putu Kamayana after 166 weeks and Erik Milfors after 82 weeks heading the list of the longest gap between events this week. We hope to see you back before 2020!

Needless to say, the prize giving was held quite late but with the free beers quenching everyone’s thirst we recognized the good and not so good play of the day and gave Brenda and Wina a rousing cheer for their earlier efforts in negotiating the discount on the day.

The Play

modern detail

As usual, Modern proved a good test of golf for the Monthly medal with only 6 players breaking or achieving their handicaps but this was offset by an equally low number of fines for the day. Most strokes went to Richard Green for his 11 on one hole, just pipping 3 others who had 10 strokes. Only one skirt was recorded with new comer Scotty Graham getting the choice of the tee set dress up outfit much to the amusement of Kayla. Fellow new-comer Steve Moruzzi got himself into the prizes for First Sandy on hole 8 and after 6 months away, Nick Thomas snared First Par for handicaps >= 30 for his effort on hole 4.

First Birdie went to Andrew Waite for his 3rd hole effort and Efsi Hayati came home and impressive 10 shots better to take home the prize for Most Improved.

Low Net A went to Ryan Shepherd for his net 69 and he was joined by Low Net B winner Matthew Cherrett (71) on a count-back from Mike Webb and Low Net C winner John Suermondt (73). Taking advantage of Ryan already winning a prize, Roger Finnie was awarded Low Gross for his 81 strokes.

No putting awards today as everyone had a good day on the greens and joint Low Putters Roger and Ryan had already taken home other prizes. This left us with the Monthly Medal prizes for Best Stableford, Nearest the Pin and Long Drive which turned out to be a short presentation with Tony Howarth taking home all three prizes after having his best round with Tee Set recording 43 points on the day.

36860746495_0c3ab6af3a_z

Congratulations to Tony who in addition to getting his name engraved on the shield, took home the Monthly Medal and a Rp1,000,000 voucher from sponsors Grand Slam Golf. Photos of the day can be found here and the detailed player results here.

Sunday sees us return to Padang Modern Golf for the August Monthly medal where you have the chance to succeed last month’s first time winner, Jaroslav Gaisler, in taking home the winners medal, getting your name immortalized on the Monthly Medal Shield as well as receiving a Rp1,000,000 golf voucher sponsored by Grand Slam Golf.

This Sunday is also the last round of the current cycle of the Eclectic. With 4 players tied at the top and a further 6 players within 6 strokes, there is all to play for in succeeding Craig Edwards as the Eclectic champion from Cycle V. For those in contention, you can check out your opportunities to improve your scores here.

Due to a morning competition, we will have a slightly later tee time of 12.30pm with a shotgun start over 6 or 7 holes to enable everyone to get around comfortably. If you are interested to join for the reasonable price of Rp770,000 including cart please sign up here.

Committee Update and call for Help

Tee Set’s smooth operations relies on a small group of members putting their hands up to help run its activities for the benefit of the members on a voluntary basis. With some recent changes in both the Committee participants and the time continuing Committee members have available to support Tee Set’s activities week to week, President Roger Finnie has been looking for a volunteer or 2 to help run Tee Set’s events.

I am pleased to announce that Bill Lloyd has heeded the call and will join the Tee Set Committee as a VP with immediate effect. Bill has been a Tee Set member since 2009 and in addition to bringing a lively presence every time he joins us, he and his company Asian Tigers have been staunch supporters of Tee Set over the last few years. Welcome Bill and I look forward to working with you.

The Committee is also in need of some support from someone who is computer savvy, able to manage spreadsheets and databases, update web pages from time to time and willing to dedicate a few hours each week in helping prepare the weekly events. If you are interested to help out please contact Roger Finnie directly.

Other News

I am pleased to share that Ken Runyon is offering Tee Set members golf lesson packages for those wishing to improve their game. Check out Ken’s packages in our Classified section.

Cengkareng: Sunday 20th August 2017

The Day

Cengkareng is one of Tee Set’s favourite courses as the firm course conditions and well trained caddies usually make for excellent scoring opportunities followed by a few relaxing frozen Margaritas in the club house afterwards to share the stories of the day. This Sunday was no exception as 33 Tee Setters and their 8 Par 5 guests from Bali arrived under clear blue skies to enjoy our usual Sunday game in addition to the 3rd and final round of 2017’s Battle Royale. More of the latter below.

The excellent conditions led to a host of great rounds and the day was rounded off with a BBQ as the results of the day and the Battle Royale II event were announced just as the sun set on what was an excellent day of golf.

Two new comers, Grant Lutz and Eric Flores, were given a warm Tee Set welcome and we look forward to seeing you at future events soon along with Nick Thomas who was our longest welcome back after 25 weeks.

The Play

After last week’s blank, the Treasurer, VP of Almost Everything Ric Wymer, was pleased to see a healthy list of skirts with Al Livingston, Jaroslav Gaisler, John Suermondt, Mick Dodsworth, Nick Thomas, Richard Green and Vanco Pop-Petrovski all contributing their fines.

Showing his rustiness after 25 weeks away, Nick Thomas also won Monster Putter for his 44 strokes on the greens. Although avoiding a second fine due to the 1 fine rule, he missed out on recouping his losses for 1st Par => 30 Handicap as he was OB at the prize giving to the benefit of Kim Pham who took home the prize for her Par on hole 4.

Newcomer Grant Lutz shook off his first 9 troubles to shave an impressive 13 strokes over his second 9 to win Most Improved; just pipping  Rusty Witwer who came home 12 strokes better – no doubt as a result of not repeating the 12 strokes on one hole which instead resulted in a fine for Most Strokes.

Simon Reynolds was awarded Low Gross for his equal best of the day 75 which also saw Nick Gleeson take home 1st Sandy on the one prize rule for his effort on hole 9. A glitch in the processing on the day saw Joseph D’Cruz overlooked under the same 1 prize rule for Low Putts and Ryan Shepherd for First Birdie, with Pieter Nielen-Groen only recognized for their efforts on hole 2. The Treasurer may fix you up next week if you talk nicely to him!

The Low Net prizes reflected the perfect firm and fast scoring conditions with 5 of the players at the top of their respective grades recording their best ever Tee Set rounds. Honourable mentions to Efsi Hayati, who could console herself with the only Eagle of the day scored on hole 6, and Nick Thomas for breaking 100 with Tee Set for the first time.

However, the prizes for Low Net went to Lis Wymer (also her first round under 100 with Tee Set),  Wina Nugraha and President Roger Finnie for their net scores of 67, 67 and 65 in C, B and A grades, respectively.

As usual the detailed results of the day can be found here and pictures of the day here.

Battle Royale II

Saturday and Sunday saw the second installment of our now annual match against Par 5 Club, Bali. Unfortunately with a few late cancellations, Par 5 arrived with only 8 players but thanks to an enthusiastic response from our Tee Set members, we were able to supplement their numbers and also have 20 Tee Setters participate over the week-end.

Saturday morning’s 4-Balls saw Tee Set take a 4-2 lead which they held during the afternoon scramble format as the teams shared the spoils 3-3. This left everything to play for on Sunday with Tee Set needing at least 3 1/2 points from the 8 available to win the Battle Royale Cup won last year by Par 5 Club on home turf in Bali.

Led from the front by Captain Roger Finnie’s best ever round of 75 to pip Par 5 Captain Tony Franco 1 up and supported by wins across each of the flights, Tee Set ran out winners 12-8. More importantly, friendships made last year were renewed and new acquaintances formed over the 54 holes of match-play and a few beers in the club house afterwards.

This led to Par 5 throwing out the challenge for next year in Bali after presenting Tee Set with the Cup. Look out for Battle Royale III in 2018.

A big thank you was given to the Cengkareng staff for hosting the event this year and to all of the participants for making it an excellent week-end of golf.

Next Up: Monthly Medal and Eclectic Cycle VI final round

Next Sunday sees us return to Padang Modern Golf for the August Monthly medal where you have the chance to succeed last month’s first time winner, Jaroslav Gaisler, in taking home the winners medal, getting your name immortalized on the Monthly Medal Shield as well as receiving a Rp1juta golf voucher sponsored by Grand Slam Golf.

Due to a morning competition, we will have a slightly later tee time of 12.30pm with a shotgun start over 10 holes to enable everyone to get around comfortably. If you are interested to join for the reasonable price of Rp770,000 including cart please sign up here.

Tee Set Match-Play

A reminder to the 8 players left in the match-play that there are just 2 weeks left to complete the bracket semi-finals. The last date to complete the round is 3rd September so if you do not wish the Match-Play Supremo, James Ross, to adjudicate the winner please arrange to complete your match before the cut-off date. As usual, there are no exceptions and it is up to the players to sort out the arrangements to play before the cut off date.

Next-Up: Cengkareng Sunday 20th 2017

The final round of Battle Royale taking place also on Sunday with Tee Set seeking to win the trophy presented to Par 5 Club last year at the in inaugural event in Bali last year. This means places are filling up quicker than normal and with maximum places limited at 64, if you have not yet signed up and wish to join us for a very reasonable Rp750,000 please sign up here.

There is also a BBQ prize presentation on Sunday evening for Rp150,000 and please make a note in the comments section (BBQ=Yes) if you wish to join.

Riverside: Sunday 13th August 2017

riverside summary

The Day

With around 15 Tee Set regulars on Inter-league duties at Jagorawi on Sunday morning, a modest group of 22 Tee Setters turned out this week to take on the Shark’s challenging lay-out at Riverside.

Despite a morning competition going on and in a pleasant change from some of our experiences in recent weeks, Riverside’s starter was able to get us  out off a full hour ahead of the original scheduled time of 12.30pm. This saw a few of the later arrivals scrambling to get out on the course behind the early starters and with the weather also being kind, we were round in a respectable 4 1/2 hours. This enabled everyone to enjoy a few beers before the presentations of the day which were a little delayed as we had given Brenda the day off thus leaving President Roger Finnie to manage all the results of the day after showering.

Only 1 new-comer to welcome this week, Lorenzo Margeno. Lorenzo had actually joined last week’s scramble as you will see from his picture here – he  is on the left  along with playing partners Colin Campbell, Andrew Waite and Jochen Sautter – but as we did not do a regular event presentation it was left to today to give him our usual warm Tee Set welcome.

lorenzo.PNG

A warm welcome back was also given to Patrick Wasler after 43 weeks and we hope to see you again soon Patrick.

To cap off a great day, we were also able to enjoy a smooth and relatively traffic free drive home.

The Play

riverside detail.PNG

Riverside’s challenging layout was reflected in only 4 players matching handicap or better on the day but interestingly no skirts. A reflection of the quality of the players or the hard and fast fairways is a matter of debate but a poor harvest of fines none the less.

IMG_7487

Rather unusually, both Monster Putter and Most Strokes were shared by Gaurav Dass and Lorenzo Marengo with 43 putts and 11 strokes, respectively, and earning them only a single fine each under the 1 fine rule.

At the other end of the putting stats, Low Putts went unsurprisingly to regular winner Mark Johnson for his equal best of the day 28 shots with the flat stick. First Sandy was awarded to John Suermondt for his effort on hole number 6 whilst Stefan Thiele won Most Improved for knocking an impressive 15 strokes off his front 9 score over the back 9.

Juju Juhairiah was awarded first Par for Handicaps >=30 for her effort on number 15 whilst Lorenzo Marengo recovered his fine by winning First Birdie for his effort on hole 4.

Best Gross was awarded to Barbora Gaislerova for her 81 off the stick whilst President Roger Finnie (net 72), Dave Chew (net 69) and Michael Seabrook (net 68) took out Low A, B and C grades, respectively. An admin error on the day saw Dave classed in C grade and thus he missed out on the photo to Jaco Zaayman’s benefit but we will fix you up next week Dave. Brenda – you were missed!!

IMG_7502.JPG

Overall a fun day and the detailed results of the day can be found here and the slightly limited photos of the day here.

Inter-League Result

As mentioned above, Sunday also saw Tee Set Too playing their Round 5 make-up game against Sandbaggers.  A close match saw a couple of games settled on the last green with Sandbaggers managing to edge both games to win 6-4 overall. Thank you to all those who played and Inter-League will revert to its normal schedule in September.

Next Up

battle royale.pngNext week-end sees the return match of the Battle Royale Cup where Tee Set will seek to win the trophy presented to Par 5 Club following their success at the inaugural event in Bali last year. President Roger Finnie will be leading the Tee Set team over 54 holes of match play at the ever popular Cengkareng Golf course. The match will be played on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th August followed by a trophy presentation BBQ on Sunday evening. Roger has reached out to several potential team members already and anyone interested to play please send an email to him  via rogerfinnie@yahoo.com.

For those wanting a gentler week-end of golf enjoying Cengkareng’s pleasant walk or hover-board experience, great caddies and wonderful Margaritas, Tee Set will be holding this week’s event in parallel to the Sunday round of Battle Royale.

Spaces will be limited to 64 players and with Battle Royale taking up some of these spaces you are recommended to sign up early here. There will also be the aforementioned BBQ open to all at Rp150,000 per head so if you are interested to partake of it after the round please add a note in the comments section when you sign up to the effect of “BBQ = Yes”. If we exceed 64 sign ups we will run a waiting list so if you sign up but then cannot make it please let us know so we can accommodate additional players.

Other news

Tom Grace is having a clean house and so please go over to our Member’s Classified section here to check out his stuff and the other offers open to Tee Set members.

Tee Set 34th Birthday Scramble, Matoa, Sunday 6th August 2017

89 Tee Setters (or most of them anyway) celebrating our 34th BIrthday

The day

Sunday saw us heading back to Matoa of course for our annual scramble event in celebration of Tee Set’s 34th birthday this time.

An almost overwhelming turnout of 89 players, our  highest ever turnout outside of the Tee Set Championship, was to be greeted by a beautiful sunny day and the President’s collection of 1980’s music to get everybody into an appropriately birthday mood while the Hot-Hed Hot Dog stand was doing its usual brisk business satisfying those in need of solid sustenance.

Although the numbers were significantly higher than we had imagined, Wina worked closely with the very accommodating Matoa starters to ensure that all 22 groups were able to get away at the same time with a shotgun start across 12 holes, this after the Prezz and Brenda worked hard to place the late arrivals into open slots as a result of a few no-shows.

Happily, everything fell into place in time for the obligatory photo to commemorate the occasion followed by a brief explanation of the special holes and the rules – leading to all 22 teams heading out perfectly on time at 11.30 to pit their wits against the course and the various novelty challenges awaiting them during the round.

Brenda was out and about all day cheering all the teams on, taking lots of snaps and providing smoothies on demand. Well done her.

After the round we gathered in the upstairs function room as usual to share war stories, a few beers and recognise the day’s winners.

President Roger thanked all for coming to share in our birthday celebrations and expressed thanks to our most generous sponsors on the day:

Bob Fleischmann and Hot Hed for the excellent hot-dogs

Jack Calcote and Asiaserv for their top class smoothies

Richard Mau and Hotel Luwansa for the amusingly themed and tasty birthday cake

Andreas Stowosky and DOCKS for the great turkey sandwiches

The VP of Almost Everything then gave the group a few reflections on Tee Set’s long history before raising a toast to some recently departed Tee Set stalwarts.

An then there was (nearly none) ..

Following the cake cutting, Roger paid  tribute to the fantastic work done by the HOGS group in supporting Indonesian kids afflicted at birth by cleft palate and cleft lip.

HOGS President Ralph Duckworth replied after which Roger presented Tee Set’s donation of Rp 10m to the HOGS.

To much acclaim, Richard Green matched the Tee Set donation and the ensuing whip round meant that over Rp25 million ended up in HOGS coffers on the day.

Tee Set is golf with love and hope.

Roger closed by offering a big thank you to all involved in making the event go so smoothly, the Web Guy (in absentia), VP Ric, Wina, Brenda and all the Matoa staff.

Overall a great day of fun and celebration was had by all – see you again next year when we fully expect to celebrate Tee Set’s 35th Birthday in some style 🙂

The play

A rather different array of prizes today with bottles of wine and golf balls featuring heavily!

Most drives by >= 30 handicapper was taken by immediate past Vasco da Garma Trophy winner Michael Seabrook for contributing 8 drives to his team’s efforts on the day, just one behind overall Most Drives winner Tony Howarth who contributed a full 50% of his team’s drives with nine off the tee. Both were to receive a bottle of wine in recognition of their efforts.

Also collecting a bottle of wine for their individual efforts were Ron White for his Nearest the Pin effort on hole 4 of 2.40m while Scott Schauer launched a huge 285m drive on hole 9 to take Long Drive – not with the planned 1980’s driver unfortunately as a small hiccup in arrangements saw that left in the bag at home. Oh dear.

Last but by no means least in the individual categories, the real Brenda presented Maya with a bottle of wine for her Nearest to the Brenda effort on hole 18.

For the team prizes there were many good scores with 19 of the 22 teams finishing with a net score under 60. The battle for 3rd place was a close one with 7 teams separated by a single stroke.

While The Gaisler Bunch’s equal best gross of the day 66 was only good enough for 9th with a net 56, the Sandbaggers of long drive winner Scott Schauer, late team replacement Richard Green, King Tirto and Jaco Zaayman pipped the other 5 teams for 3rd winning a bottle of wine apiece for their efforts in shooting a net 55.

Dede’s Demons’ gross 66, net 53.87, was good enough for 2nd, winning Dede and Pieter Nielen-Groen, Stuart Wigley and President Roger Finnie a bottle of wine and a sleeve of balls each.

The overall winners however were to be team EVI (no idea) comprised of Al Livingston, Kim Pham, Craig Binks and Most Drives winner Michael Seabrook. In addition to the day’s not insignificant bragging rights, they each took home a bottle of wine and 2 sleeves of balls.

More detailed results can be found here – while an amazing number of photographs of a great day are on the Tee Set Gallery.

Next up

Next Sunday sees us return to the delights of Riverside with a 12.30pm start and green fees etc including shared cart of 735,000 roops. If you are interested in testing yourself against this Greg Norman designed classic, then sign up here as usual.

In parallel there will be a catch-up Interleague day at Jagorawi with a 9.30am shotgun start on Sunday. Tee Set Prez and Interleague Captain Roger Finnie will be reaching out to the team to check availability.

See yah next Sunday ….. Tee Set

Tee Set’s 34th Birthday Scramble at Matoa – don’t miss it

ENTRY IS NOW CLOSED – 84 REGISTERED AND NO MORE ROOM .. Sorry!

Tee Set celebrates its birthday every year. As you pick yourself off the ground stunned by the depth of the insight that goes behind that statement, our 34th birthday is of course on Sunday and is most definitely not to be missed – if only for your chance to discover just what a delight eating a slice of the magnificent green themed Hotel Luwansa Tee Set birthday cake is!!

We have 12 3/4 teams already signed up for the fun on Sunday so if you are not yet amongst their number then join in here, either individually, or as a team by utilising the comments field . If registering a team then do let us know the team name you would like to fly under – the dafter the better.

The Schedule

Nothing too complicated about the schedule for the day but do please note in particular that Hot-Hed’s famous Hot Dogs will be available from 10:00 and that we will be having the group photo in front of the clubhouse, and under the special event banner as usual – at 11am so please don’t miss your chance at immortality.

Happily we will have a shotgun start off 6 holes so we should all finish around the same time(ish.)

Can we encourage all to wear the oldest Tee Set shirt you can find in your cupboard on the day? HOGS welcome to wear their own, erm, distinctive gear of course, leather always welcome!

Brenda will be travelling around the course during play, taking photos and giving out AsiaServ Indonesia‘s oh-so-refreshing smoothies, so please make her extra-specially welcome 🙂

Novelty holes

As mentioned previously, our 34th birthday event is intended, as always, to provide us with a chance to let our hair down and have a lot of fun with as many friends, family and fellow Tee Setters as possible.

If you have been paying attention you will not be surprised therefore to learn that we have 5 “novelty” holes planned for our Texas Scramble round and they follow, though first of all, and to your right, there is small clue for those who have never played Tee Set Birthday Scramble before – this is what “the Brenda” looks like. Both of them.

After some years of service she is looking a little faded – the one on the right that is, not the one on the left, that one is looking just as fresh as ever!

Scorecard

Not the usual one this week but rather one specially tailored for the event – this is what you will be filling in on Sunday.

A handicap list will be available to help you complete the card before play and, if you ask her nicely, then Brenda will probably lend you her calculator if you are unable to divide by six.

On the back of the scorecard will be some rules – please feel free to both ignore them and argue about them.

Prizes

Finally, we will be having even more startlingly generous prizes than usual on Sunday and, with many of them able to be administered by mouth, please don’t be shy, corkscrews will be available.

Good luck to all!

Looking forward to seeing you for the fun in the sun on Sunday! … Tee Set
