Funeral Details Juergen Degert

Juergen

As advised by Juergen’s dear friend of 20 years John “Malty” Suermondt on Sunday, on Facebook and here on Monday, Juergen passed away in Bogor after a battle with illness.

A member of Tee Set since 1995 and, while not playing for the last few years, Juergen was always a tremendous supporter of our group, nothing was ever too much …..his trademark smile is captured here!

Many in the Jakarta golfing community have commented on how Juergen was always open to a great chat, a laugh and a beer…one of the real good guys.

Great that so many of us were able to see Juergen for the last time at his beloved Rancamaya just a little more than a week ago – and moreover be able to remember him in such great spirits for the Tee Set v DOGS matchup …

Condolences to Juergen’s wife May and the family at this sad time.  Juergen’s funeral will be this Saturday at Tanah Kusir Cemetery from 10am.  Until then those wishing to pay final respects can visit Juergen at the funeral home at

Tee Set Interleague, Sunday 19th June, Jagorawi

Now in from Captain Ric….

Oh what a difference a month makes. The loss to Cloggies last month 10 – 0 after some hard fought and closely contested matches was a devastating blow, sending the Singing President into temporary exile after a shocker, and convincing Captain Ric that things had to change.

The result – a brilliant 8-2 win against arch rivals Mad Dogs, the only team to beat Tee Set last year. Sweet revenge.

The singles matches have always been a bit hit and miss but with Murcho and Stuart in good form Iris and Yati had their work cut out for themselves from the very first tee box. Murcho finished off Yati on the 3rd last hole with a 3 and 2 win while Stuart took his match 1 up with a wonderful last hole birdie.  Ric and Anlo combined again in the first doubles and carried a 2 hole buffer for most of the round. However a bit of momentum swing in the later part of the round from Avid and Keith saw them 1 up with 4 to play. However a bit of ham and cheesing (ham and egging?) – we will define one day on the next three holes saw Tee Set safely through with a 2 and 1 victory.

Nearest to the pinChris Lever (pictured here winning Nearest to the Pin) and Joseph D’cruz proved again to be a very compatible grouping and after a sea sawing game with the lead changing a number of times, won on the last putt of the day a 1 up victory over Alan and Geoff settled a hard fought match.  The final doubles game went to Mad Dogs with Rauf sinking 8 pars with Nakil supporting with a few of his own. Divya and Neil both played steady and close to their handicaps however it was not enough and an early shower resulted from the 5 and 4 loss.

Great effort from the team. Captain Ric breathed a sigh of relief in the knowledge that Tee Set despite its ups and downs remains more than competitive, especially given recent poor results for leader Tin Cups.  A two month sabbatical til the next round in September against the Sandbaggers is followed by the final round in October against Poksia.
