The straight-forward layout and relaxed atmosphere is perfect to ease everyone back into the New Year whether you stayed and partied hard or were away and are getting the sticks out after a couple of weeks off.

Calling all Tee Set Pool Sharks
Thanks to the sponsorship of BATS bar in the Shangri-La Hotel, we will be entering a Tee Set pool team in the forthcoming season of the Wednesday night Jakarta Pool League. Whilst there is a competitive element to the arrangements for some teams, for us it is mostly about having a lot of fun and a good night out with a few friends. You do not need to commit to play every week as we will run a squad but obviously we would like to have regular players available.
If you are interested in joining please let Keith Miller or Roger Finnie know as soon as possible as we need to register players and have some practice drinking evenings around a pool table as the league starts towards the end of January.
Docks 2nd Annual Scramble
On Friday 19th January Andreas Stokowy and the team at Docks have a scramble tournament at Gading Raya. If you are interested in playing the form and details are here. Andreas would be happy also for sponsors and please contact him directly.
Tee Set 2018: A Message from the President
A Happy New Year to everyone and I hope you had a great holiday season whether you were away seeing family, just enjoying a well earned break or decided to stay in Jakarta to take advantage of quieter roads and everything it has to offer. It was certainly great to see more golfers out over the last 2 weeks than the same weeks 12 months ago as I was in the latter category of holiday makers.
Now most Tee Setters are back in town, I thought it would be useful to give everyone a flavour of the year ahead.
First and foremost the schedule: your Committee is working on the full schedule for 2018 and the tentative draft of the schedule through the end of July is now updated on the Schedule page of the web-site. As always, we are looking to improve the quality of the courses played whilst maintaining a reasonable cost and tee time each week. As such, the schedule remains fluid through-out the year as we deal with last minute course booking clashes, pricing changes and occasionally, some poor course management experiences.
We hope you will find it an attractive selection of courses but we are open to constructive ideas to continually improve it. As we are early in the year, it will be updated regularly so keep looking out for the upcoming events.
Key high-lights from the schedule:
- With 2018 representing Tee Set’s 35th Anniversary, one of our 2 major events this year will be a Birthday week-end celebration currently being planned at Gunung Geulis. VP Bill Lloyd is coordinating the arrangements for the event be held over the week-end of 21/22 July and which will include 36 holes of golf and a big party on the Saturday night;
- The other major event, to be held on the last week-end of November, will be the Tee Set Championship, played again at Matoa;
- Battle Royale Bali week-end (April), DOGS Match/Rancamaya week-end (June) and the World Cup (Oct) are slotted in already and we are looking for a date for a (week-end?) trip to Surabaya to visit Simon Reynolds at Finna Golf Club and play against a team he will arrange there;
- The Monthly Medal will be at Cengkareng in 2018;
- Tee Set will enter a team again in the Jakarta Inter-league. JIL will be a shortened season with only 6 teams and following a good negotiation of reduced rates at Jagorawi we will hold concurrent Tee Set events there on the 6 inter-league week-ends; and lastly, as usual
- The Tee Set Match-Play Championship will be held across the year with the initial drawing of pairings for the first round to matches to be held on 25th January 2018 at our Monthly Medal.
Look out for further information on signing up for the Match Play and all the above events in the forth-coming weekly news blogs or by visiting the Tee Set web-site.
VP’s Ric Wymer and Bill Lloyd will be coordinating the Championship and Tee Set Birthday events, respectively and I am sure they both would be appreciative of additional support in terms of event committees. If you are interested to help please talk to them directly.
We rely heavily on our sponsors to enable us to run these major events successfully and I would like to thank again those sponsors who helped so much in 2017:
- Gold Sponsors: Asian Tigers, Kojo, Samson Tiara, Hotel Luwansa, Asia Serv, Hot-Hed and Schenck Process
- Silver Sponsors: Fugro, Ben Lines
- Bronze Sponsors: Bintang Subsea
If you are able and willing to join our sponsors team for 2018, please contact VP Ric Wymer or myself to let us know. Your support is invaluable to us being able to continue to have such an active and successful society.
On a person note, I would like to thank all the Committee Members for their great support and effort on behalf of all of us to ensure we can enjoy our golf week in and week out with the minimum of effort. Thank you to Ric, Bill, Keith, Wina and Brenda as well as James Ross for his organization of the Match Play event and Aisha and Beby for their week-end Secretarial support as needed.
I hope to see most, if not all of you, during the year and my best wishes for a 2018 of happy golfing, new & renewed friendships and good health.

Hi There my only comment would be that as Cengkareng is closing down we may well see a deterioration of the maintenance as we go on as they will certainly stop spending money on the course. We may need to monitor that one closely.

Thanks Mark and perfectly agree we will need to monitor the situation as the year progresses. The schedule is always fluid and we will adapt as needed as the year goes on.
