Next up: Pangkalan Jati, Sunday 8th March 2015

Pangkalan Jati GolfA couple of Newcomers, some rather famous (infamous? – ED) battle scarred old Welcome Backs, and a bunch of others, sees us already with more than 30 signed up for the fun in the sun at PJ on Sunday.

The usual relatively early start of 11am at PJ – and even then they can surprise by getting us away even earlier, so you might be well advised to get there early too – especially as Santi is rumoured to be bringing along a few of her new “Santi’s Apple Pies”  to sample, and some vanilla ice cream to go with it for the early birds on Sunday!

Still rather short of any information on pricing but, as a guide, in December last it was 525,000 for a shared cart and 100,000 less if you stretched your legs. Expect to pay a little more we guess. Sign up here if you haven’t done so already.

Finally. to ease the potential pain of the  relatively inexperienced Tee Setter, Mustafa has drawn you a little map sharing the secret of how to minimise the pain of Sunday morning travel to PJ by avoiding a certain notorious pasar. Thanks Mustafa!

See ya, Sunday …. Tee Set

Permata Sentul, Sunday 1st March 2015

hillyThe day

Despite the late change of venue from the popular Palm Hills to Permata Sentul, 32 Tee Setters fronted up and 31 of them set off in a mini-shotgun over 5 tee boxes, with Robert Humberson retiring hurt before a ball was struck.  Hope you are feeling better Robert 🙂

Chris Lever was the beneficiary of having his own driver for the day, pink uniform and all. The KPK need to look into that perhaps, though maybe they have enough on their plate at the moment.

For the second week in a row the Starter evoked some fluttering in the Tee Set dovecot by announcing we could get away very early – and causing further confusion by telling us we could have a shotgun start from 5 tees. The Former President of almost Everything is made of sterner stuff than your average Joe in the street however – and soon had us rearranged appropriately and on our way.

The only rain of the day had started and stopped even before play had begun, providing comfortable if somewhat humid playing conditions – and some invigorating trekking for those who love a good walk.  The round moved along briskly with all finishing well within 5 hours.

The caddies, staff and facilities made for a very enjoyable day…not to mention the free pitcher per flight – and really pleasing to see a number of non-playing partners joining the day and enjoying the splendid scenery and hospitality offered by Permata Sentul.

Welcome BacksRick ZankerRick Zanker led the Welcome Backs with a rather low 12 weeks though special mention has to be made of Tee Set regular Neil Mullins who returned from a short, self-imposed exile, with a half set of clubs and a somewhat restored, but still fragile, karma.  Neil was heading for a remarkable first round back until some wayward driving and chunky chipping late on threatened further depletion of the contents of his bag.

womb with a viewIt is received wisdom that Permata Sentul has the cutest caddies to be found on Jakarta area courses and  there was little evidence to contradict this today as they displayed their virtues (eg green reading skills) in their pink uniforms across the course,

Other creatures about also, with numerous close encounters with monkeys being reported and the feeling of playing in a zoo further enhanced by a number of other unidentified small furry creatures bounding through the woods and indeed the odd snake here and there.

Nothing of course that would worry your average Tee Setter for whom anything less than a fully grown gorilla is blasé.

Des Res

A Sentul Des Res – another KPK victim perhaps?

The play

Skills

Simon Reynolds again impressed with his rather startling mint hued strides and smooth strokes, carding 77 with a 36 on the front nine to take Low Gross.

Sofree was the picture of steadiness in wining low net for A grade, while Norman Bunter is on something of a hot streak, once again securing a red one with a round of 87, tying net B grade and taking first sandy par.

cant have too many caddiesChris Smith was also totally up on his luck winning Low Net B on a countback from Norman, first birdie (which he sacrificed to the Singing President) and the envy of his playing partners as you can see in the photo.

Jaco Zaayman returned to the winners circle after giving others a chance for the last few weeks, carding a strong net 68 to take the money for C grade Low Net.

After steady performances for some time now, Chris Chan took out Low Putts with 30 while evergreen Tom Alcedo sprang out of the starting blocks with the 1st Par >= 30 on his very first hole.

With a miserly 4 strokes improvement shared between three – and all starting from different tee boxes, Most Improved was left unawarded this week.

Boobies

skirtsTom Grace was convinced that having OB-ed well past the red tees with his first drive, that failing to reach the ladies tee box with his second didn’t qualify him for a skirt. Cucu, marked his card for him, however, and thought otherwise while Chris Smith proved that wearing a skirt AND winning Low Net is perfectly feasible. Missing from the skirt photo is seasoned rocker Chris Till, presumably lost in the dressing room trying to find a better stage costume.

The Immediate Past President of Almost Everything celebrated Chinese New Year late with a string of lucky 7s and 8s on his card and shared Monster Putter with Umaya, Evaldo and Peter but, at just 39 putts, Ric decided to take pity on himself, and the others,  and spared them all a fine.

More detailed, player by player results here while photos of the day will be on the Tee Set Gallery as soon as we can convince Yahoo to give us new password.

The 2015 Tee Set Matchplay Championship

29 Tee Setters have already registered and handed over their red one for the Tee Set Matchplay Championship. The draw will be made on Friday so, if you are going to join in one of Tee Set’s most enjoyable events and haven’t registered yet, then fill this in.

Some updates though some way to go yet

What can we say about Pangkalan Jati that hasn’t already been said? We will therefore stick with its always drawing a healthy number of Tee Setters – and that the committee is pondering some sort of diversion or other to mark our return.

Tee off at 11:00 from 1 & 10 – with green fees of an as yet unknown amount – but very unlikely to break the bank. Sign up here.

Yes, I’m playing – Permata Sentul

obsessiveIt appears that for the many who can’t move beyond their mobile phone, finding the link to register from our post re Permat Sentul yesterday was a Mission Impossible.

Just in case, here it is again “Yes, I’m playing”

Should you ever have the problem again then please note that you can instead click the “Yes, I’m playing” item on the black menu line on a PC, or from the drop-down menu on your mobile.

Permata Sentul - mountain view

small, cold and liquid prize for the first to correctly tell us which hole this is on …

The already strong numbers for Permata Sentul would seem to indicate that the course’s charms are not lost on Tee Setters – either that or they don’t like the thought of missing the free pitcher promised for each and every flight.

Like most courses hereabouts, PS is pretty easy to get to just as soon as you know where it is.

Last time we were there, in June 2014, saw 41 Tee Setters  (including 5 dual passport holding DOGS) joining in the fun on a delightful course, a number that looks likely to be surpassed this time.

Arriving late for the advertised 12:00 start is unlikely to be sound policy as we are have every chance of getting away on time or even a little early. The Usual Suspects should take note 🙂

See ya at Permata Sentul! …. Tee Set

Tee Set 10 – Sentul Swingers 0, Jagorawi, Sunday 1st March

GroupOn Sunday, Tee Set took on the unpredictable Sentul Swingers in the first round of the 2015 Interleague team match play competition.

Lots missing from 2014’s regular line up including Sam Westen, Simon Reynolds, Peter Reichlmeier, Geoff Thwaites, Neil Mullins and George “Pulpy” Bevege for a variety of reasons including left-the-country, out-of-country and “otherwise engaged”.

Captain Ric was therefore compelled to ring the changes and bring in plenty of new blood, with first time appearances from Aljosja, Anlo, Divya, Joseph, Barbora and Daniel, while veterans Chris Murchison and Craig Ewers were the only ones bringing any Interleague experience to the Tee Set line-up.

Quite a challenge therefore and that the team came through with flying colours in these circumstances with a 10-0 win was inspirational – and bodes well for the rest of the Interleague season 🙂

Rather tight in the singles with Chris 3 and 2 up, and Aljosja up 2 and 1 before our first doubles team of Anlo and Divja crashed the Sentul Swingers party by handing out an 8 and 7 drubbing. Second doubles team was Craig and Joseph who also won convincingly with a strong 5 and 3.

Barbora and Daniel

Tee Set’s pocket battleships – striking terror into the heart of the opposition

The final doubles team of Barbora, just 14 years old and Daniel at just a whisker under 10, and head just over the steering wheel, took on the Swingers’ 8 and 16 handicappers – and came through with a rather convincing 8 and 6!!

What a blast for the kids but well done to the whole team of course.

We are now on top of the table – and with next month’s game against the reigning champions, the Cloggies. Bring it on.

Lina - Tetty

Solid support from the Tee Set wings with two extra flights following the groups around the course. Norman and Lina Bunter with “just in time” Tetty in one flight and first timers to Jags, Mick Dodsworth, Jaroslav Gaisler and Jana Gaislerova who all looked a little shell-shocked after the round. Hope they remember to restock with more balls in time for next Sunday 🙂

Bali HaiJags management are trying out a new beer supplier and introduced its latest incentive to sip a little Bali Hai  The advertising ploy appears to have worked well as she had already run out of cold ones by early afternoon!

Finally, Norman also discovered why there is a Rp50K surcharge to join Interleague when he was awarded the nearest to the pin prize. Those pewters don’t grow on trees Norman.

See ya at Permata Sentul on Sunday!! …. Tee Set

Padang Golf Modern, Sunday 22nd February 2015

Proudly fuelled by Ricard

Proudly fuelled by Ricard

The Day

A quite splendid day at the seldom visited Padang Golf Modern where we were to be treated royally by the management, staff, course, caddies – and the weather, which was like that of a day stolen from Summer, whatever that is in these parts.

Welcome Backs

No Newcomers to report this week, and indeed some rather unimpressive Welcome Back numbers with only Tim Jeffrey and Richard Mau in double figures. Welcome Back to all nonetheless!

It's upside down you idiot!!

It’s upside down you idiot!!

With the Interleague and some supporters playing at Jagorawi, a turnout of 27 Tee Setters at Modern was pretty impressive, though late ins and outs were compounded by the Starter’s invitation to commence teeing off 45 minutes early. something which was to leave a Web Guy, with no grown-ups in sight, in a state of some confusion. No matter as he was to gain some solace later by so distorting the prize awards that he managed to get 100,000 for himself for Low Putts.

No worries, things sorted themselves out as they always do and we were to enjoy a delightful round on a course in great condition – and in a little less than 4 and a half hours.

The schedule we mentioned above does not have us back at Modern until the middle of October. Shome mishtake, shurely?

The Play

Skills

Mark deliriously happy upon learning of his victory!

Mark deliriously happy upon learning of his victory ..

With most but far from all of the serious competition away at Jags, Mark Johnson could almost have his choice of prizes if it were not for our rule that forbids taking more than one – he got Low Gross therefore, allowing Ken Runyon to take Low Net A Grade and Keith Miller to snap up Low Putts.

Ricard_Pastis_01_09

Low Net Winner this week

Overall Low Net and Grade-C winner was a delighted Pascal Bekaet who attributed his recent improvement in form to imbibing his favourite pastis throughout the round, though it was to fail to have a similar effect on “Malty John” despite his vigorously joining in the imbibing. You have to understand that John and single malt whisky are in a non-exclusive, or what is often called an “open” relationship.

Chris Lever maintained his regular appearance in the winners circle with a Net 71 to secure Low Net B-Grade while another Pastis follower, King Tirto, was also to benefit from our “1-prize only” law in taking 1st birdie as late as the 13th hole he played.

Boobies

skirtsJust two skirts to report from a course with a rather weak ladies committee and where the red tees were seldom to be found very much in front of the blue.

Chris TillChris Till is slowly filling in his I-Spy book of Tee Set regalia, this week snapping up the Monkey Mask for Most Putts with just 40 blows of the flat blade, while Craig Edwards and Peter Bush were each delighted to find the other sharing Most Stokes on 11.

If we also had a “prize for “Most UN-improved” then Bushy would surely have won it with his 48-60-108 for an “un-improvement” of a very worthy 12.

More detailed, player by player results can be found here while more photos of a great day are on the Tee Set Gallery.

Interleague Round I

A report on Tee Set’s very fine 10-0 triumph over Sentul Swingers will follow soon.

Next Up

cute-caddiesDespite what you might right read on the schedule page (and the Singing President promises faithfully to update it this week) next Sunday sees us at the delightful Permata Sentul which is, along with all its other virtues – and according to legend, the home of the cutest caddies in Jakarta.

Located off the Jagorawi Tol (heading South, come off at the Sirkuit Sentul exit and go left BEFORE the entrance to the Sirkuit itself) it is generally a little too expensive for our frugal Tee Set course selection parameters, unless that is they make us an offer we can’t refuse.  And it is just such an offer that sees us making such a late change in venue this week; so, an affordable 730,000 all-in with green fees etc. including shared cart for a fine course – and with a free pitcher of beer throw in for every flight of 4.

All in all a no-brainer, so get signed up as soon as possible to make sure you can join in what will undoubtedly be a great day. Rain? …. we are Tee Set and we spit in its eye 🙂

“The Tee Set friendly Modern course was in pretty good shape while the staff on the course and in the club house were friendly and efficient, the food and service really was of a high standard and their non-cash system works so well that it is a model for others in the area to follow. Tee Setters really do not like having to put their hand in their pockets every time they order a bag of salted peanuts”

Shotgun

We guess they will change the date ……

That was what we wrote about Modern last time we were there back in September last year when we were to enjoy a fine time on a day when everyone was around in a little over four and a half hours – using the same shotgun start that will be in operation again on Sunday.

Green fees of 735.000 including shared buggy for that 12:30 shotgun start.

Should be another fine Tee Set Sunday if we can yet again dodge the rain bullet, sign up here if you have not already done so.

Interleague

Newly anointed Interleague Captain, Ric, provided us with this write-up for the Tee Set Interleague match at Jagorawi on Sunday, a match that, with its early 9:30 morning start, will have just about completed by the time those playing at Modern have teed off.

Last year the Tee Set campaign to lift the Interleague trophy started slowly but gathered pace through the year with key players Geoff, Chris, George, Sam, Simon, Peter, Neil, Mel, Bruce, Nicky, Mike and Ric hitting form at one time or another. The competition result was in the balance going into the last round, however the Cloggies prevailed with Tee Set coming in tied for second place.

This year the talent scouts have been working overtime and there is new depth to the group. Barbora, Jaroslav, Mark Johnson, Tim Knight, Joseph d’Cruz and Chris Lever are all ready take on the current champions and beat them on their home course.

If you think your game is coming together then throw your hat into the ring to join Interleague Match Play this Sunday with a 9:30 tee off. Even if you don’t make the team there will be the normal stroke play competition starting straight after the Interleague shotgun at 9:30.

Fees all up are Rp1.050.000 including the shared cart and match fee.

Hope to see you there …. Ric

Ric is still looking for a couple of players so, please let him know urgently if you are up for the game at its purest and most competitive, matchplay.

Good luck to the team and see ya at Modern or Jags!! …. Tee Set

Monthly Medal, Imperial Golf Klub, Sunday 15th February

… no apologies for once again featuring the Imperial sunset that goes so well with a frozen Margarita 🙂

The Day

For the first time in a while, Tee Setters were not to wake on a Sunday morning to the sound of rain dancing on their hot tin roof – and neither was a short downpour around 10am to do anything to dampen their spirits as we saw the highest turnout of the year so far with 52 Tee Setters joining in the fun on another very fine Tee Set Sunday at Imperial. It appears your committee has inadvertently stumbled upon a near perfect Monthly Medal venue.

Such optimism about the weather was in fact not to be misplaced as the skies quickly cleared and, apart from a light early sprinkling, the round was played in just about perfect conditions.

Two of the ugliest in Jakarta and possibly the world. Bulit in the lase eighties, their architect needs taking out and shooting ..

Two of the ugliest in Jakarta and possibly the world.
Built in the late eighties, their architect needs taking out and shooting ..

The management and staff at Imperial again proved to be accommodating from reception, a fenced off area exclusively for our use and right through to specially marked Tee Set carts, entertaining caddies, a course in surprisingly good condition given the rain and excellent post match service and facilities.

It is always a long enjoyable day, stretched out again this month by the frozen Margaritas, shouted by Pascal to celebrate the birthday of other half of the dynamic duo, King. This together with the in-round pastis meant that the continued absence of the Vice-President for Exotic Drinks was to be barely noticed. Where are you, James?

Pascal proudly extended Tee Set’s reputation for bold and daring golf fashion as you will see. He claims that red is “his” colour and that he was deprived on the course because it clashed with Tee Set green….wait for Hari Merah Putih.

The usual hold up around half way on the 1st or 10th, depending upon which hole you started on – but all rounds were completed in 5 hours or less which, for a Sunday at a top course is, we guess, acceptable.

Many thanks to John Suermondt for taking over the registration in the face of the significantly delayed arrival of Brenda and not only collecting dues for the day but also strong arming plenty of peeps into coughing up their Matchplay fee!!

Welcome backs

Just one Newcomer to report in Sepand Zarrabi who was not to take long to get his feet under the Tee Set table, joining the caddies for an occasional ride on the back of his cart, turning up the volume on his music system, raising average course product sales/pax significantly and failing to give in his card before showering, or at all in fact.

Welcome Sepand, you seem like our sort of guy!!

A new record Welcome Back after a rather astonishing 509 weeks away from Jochen Sautter who was to blow away the 18 weeks of Tee Set irregular Manoj Mishra – whose wife had let him out again as she doubtless worked on clearing out the nearby IKEA. Welcome back to all.

Inspired by past glories and eager to share holiday snaps, George “Pulpy” Beverege made a surprise appearance, only to lose his money to a couple of well-known sharks, El Guapo Gaggino and the reigning Matchplay Champion Dave Baglivo. next time. George.

A little like those who organise them, flights were mixed up rather more than usual this week, with young guns Simon and Barbora pitted head to head in preparation for Interleague next week.  Simon won out this time 81 to 84 but it showed again Barbora is pushing for the coveted Low Gross prize dominated by Simon and Sam Westen in recent times and we look forward to her Interleague debut next week representing Tee Set.

Other inspired pairings included the Singing President with the former President of Almost Everything, which allowed a range of Tee Set Presidential secrets to be passed through a long line of former Presidents, on a range of topics from shot selection to Interleague selection to the fine art of caddy whispering.  The Singing President welcomed the lessons while recognising his obligation to make his own mistakes.

On the subject, the Singing President was once again to refuse to perform for a pleading and admiring audience so, in the words of the immortal Ricky Nelson:

Sing me a song, it won’t take long
You oughta take the time!

Maybe next time!?

 The Play

Skills

TomThe course proved its usual tough but fair test with a lot of players hovering around their handicaps, and James Ross, defending his Monthly Medal title, came in with a relatively low 38 Stableford points (after a late recount), but still enough to share the honours and the place on the Monthly Medal Shield with Tom Grace.

Remarkably,  Tom was to achieve his 38 points despite a 17 (yes, seventeen) on one hole, that’s the beauty of Stableford, one crap hole doesn’t necessarily destroy your day.  Despite many aspersions to the contrary, Tom’s 17 strokes was “only” to bring him into equal third place in the all time list behind a couple of nameless players who have managed 18, though the Former President of Almost Everything (AKA The Immediate Past Vice President of Quite a Lot of Things) has memories from the dim and distant past – and well before we kept proper records of such things, of a 21 by someone else who shall remain nameless but it might very well have Blackwell in it.

Simon Reynolds maintained his Low Gross dominance but, with 40 putts, was saved narrowly from Monster Putter by a late card from Pascal with 41.

Matt Kaempf joined Tom Grace as both a benefactor and beneficiary to the Tee Set coffers, winning back his skirt money with Most Improved.  A very late Ken Runyon who managed to set a new record himself by registering at 9am, won Low Net A Grade on a count-back from Alistair Livingston, following a blistering home nine of 37.

NormanNorman Bunter was able to wave the red one for Low Net B grade and once again that perennial prize winner, Leona, took out Low Net C – and was to be joined in the money by husband Jan who shot the 1st Par for >= 30 handicap. We hope they are declaring all this income.

Joseph d’Cruz had both 1st Birdie (1) and first sandy but this second prize defaulted to playing partner, the Former President of Almost Everything, who managed to par the 17th despite a visit to the beach.

2014 Low Putt King, Craig Binks, again shone with the putter with a miserly 28 on challenging greens to take Low Putts.

BoobiesSkirts
A relatively modest crop of Cross-Dressers today led by a couple of Tee Setters for whom Sunday would not be Sunday with a Skirt, John and Matt, while Pascal’s feat in the Monster Putter category and Tom’s in the Most Strokes arena are covered above.

Matchplay

24 players already signed up and paid their 100,000 for this year’s Matchplay.

This year’s format will be vaguely different but no doubt the poisoned chalice holder will put something together for us all to reveal its inner mysteries before we get going with this year’s Matchplay in March!

Next Up

Padang Golf Modern, a very nice course next Sunday provides a good and fair challenge for Tee Setters, despite (or perhaps because of, who knows?) small and generally elevated greens.

Less fair in the past has been the inevitable wait around half way as the Starter over-packs the course after our groups have tee-ed off; hopefully no such problem with our visit on Sunday, however, as we are promised a 12:30 Shotgun Start, so that is good news – though you would be strongly advised not to be late, Wina and Tetty 🙂

Situated off the JORR and newly benefiting from its completion, access to Modern is a whizz from the south or the centre. Register here as usual.

All up cost including shared cart of 730,000.

Monthly Medal, Imperial Golf Klub, Sunday 15th February

Shame, disgrace, would never have happened in my day old boy!!

A very happy JamesThe Day

Last month’s happy winner!!

Yep, the Monthly Medal this month is not taking place on the last Sunday of the month for the first time ever – and we make no apology for it as Interleague have rudely taken that slot – and we have no intention of making our brave lads and lasses miss their Monthly Medal as their reward for representing us at Jagorawi.

So, this Sunday it is, when all the usual stuff plus vouchers from Slaney’s Butchery and Pies from Santi are on offer and, most importantly, bragging rights for a minimum of a month and perhaps a lot longer 🙂

11:48 tee off from 1 & 10 after paying the  reasonable green fees of just 750,000 for one of Tee Set’s very favourite courses including shared buggy. With the appointment of a new Pawang Hujan we have no doubt that we will avoid the bullet for a third week in a row – so don’t miss the fun and, if you are not one of the 30 plus Tee Setters already signed up, then take the short trip here.

See yah at Imperial!!! … Tee Set

Pondok Cabe, Sunday 8th February 2014

Sign of the timesThe Day

An unusually large number of Tee Setters were up with the birds on Sunday arriving at Pondok Cabe around 9am to have their breakfast – when they were able to watch as a lot of very wet morning golfers completing their splash rich rounds.

While the number of Tee Setters shrank from the 49 who had registered to just 43 in the flesh, presumably as a result of the weather, we again dodged a bullet as the rain stopped at the start of play which had been brought forward a little thanks to sound organisation and an efficient starter. This set the pattern for a well-paced round of golf with most back in the clubhouse before 4pm and the next downpour.

Welcome backsThe flow of Newcomers to Tee Set continued with four new faces and some memorable welcome backs led by Neil Maclean after 144 weeks and Chris Till after 136 –  with Chris denying that he had ever played with us before and insisting he should be another Newcomer!!

We have the records Chris – 1st July 2012 at Permata Sentul – and you didn’t get a skirt!

Pondok Cabe again impressed Tee Setters – a sound design means that every hole presents a challenge.  A few of the greens were a little bare and it is not as manicured as the more expensive courses but offers excellent value for money – not least in the restaurant with its good food and drink at reasonable prices.

Free beerJust seven Tee Setters were to qualify for the free and very large bottles of Bintang on offer for those turning up in full 2014 Tee Set Championship regalia – and also possessed of the requisite Tee Set towel. Full marks to Nicky Moir for managing to somehow bring the whole lot from Scotland in order to qualify!

To add to the fun, the Former President of Almost Everything brought along a few bottles of happy water to celebrate Lis’s birthday and, with Lis there, he was to leave for home rather unaccustomedly early 🙂

Recent work on bunkering and cart paths have improved the course, although the Web Guy chose to freestyle wildly off the paths, throwing Mrs Pie from side to side and at one stage running over his own ball – yes the bright yellow one!  Tee Set’s favourite on-course Warung lady was once more a highlight on the 3rd, glamorous as always, and slowing play on that particular tee as Tee Setters and caddies stopped for drinks and gorengan.

The Play

Skills

The scores today showed once again that Pondok Cabe presents a fair test of golf with many in the field shooting close to their handicap but few below it.

Nicky Moir took out low gross with an impressive 80 (net 69) with Graham McGeady (net 72), Tom Grace (net 69) and Cucu Chandra (net 70) winning Low Net in the grades. Jess Kindler’s net 70 was his best round for a long while and he was desperately unlucky to miss out to Cucu in the C Grade on the dreaded countback. Keep at it, Jess!!

Amongst the lesser awards, Koen’s startling 15 shot improvement on the homeward nine was the stand out while in a rare moment of Tee Set controversy, first par over 30 was almost gifted to Mike Harling before an alert audience pointed out his handicap was under 30 and, before Mike could wave the 100k note around, it was quickly handed to its rightful owner in Lina Bunter.

Chris Lever again featured in the money with a miserly 26 putts while Alistair Livingston did well snatched 1st Birdie on only his second hole.

Boobies

skirt fameIn a very healthy day for the Tee Set coffers, there were 4 skirts led by regular cross dressers Suermondt, Harling and Kaempf who were to be joined by a Wally Walters whose playing partners declared his a “muscular skirt” – with his tee shot viciously rocketing into a tee side barrier fence before cannoning back to the ladies’ tee at frightening speed.

10 is the lonliest numberMost Strokes is not usually a big money-maker for us but today was to be a little different with 7, yes seven, players contriving to take 10 on a hole and having to pony up 50,000 apiece for the smiling Treasurer to put to future good use 🙂

Monkey businessAlbert Ong celebrated his Tee Set debut by winning Monster Putter and modelling the new Monster Putter mask.  Finally, three of the week’s cross dressers were joined by three other honest souls to share Most Strokes with 10.

Also of note was that for the first time in a long time, Leona did not feature in the prize awards; but only because she didn’t play of course.

Interleague

With Interleague starting on 22 February, the Former President of Almost Everything has now assumed the Interleague Captaincy after the Vice President for Golf Economics relieved himself (of the duty).

Ric is actively scouting potential Tee Setters of different handicaps to represent us in our quest to win the 2015 Interleague title.  Selection will be on the basis of form, team balance, and willingness to pay the hefty Jagorawi green fees.

2015 Tee Set Matchplay

Yep, the months roll along and its time to start thinking about the 2015 Tee Set Matchplay already.

The format is the same but a little different this year with the first round match up based upon USGA handicaps with 1 playing 2, 3 playing 4 and so on down the line which will avoid early on mismatches but will make it more fun later.

Fernando has once again taken on the poisoned chalice of organising the Matchplay again this year, a particularly welcome development given the excellent fist he made of it all in 2014 🙂

100,000 roops to register and with 6 already signed up today so sign up below to get yourself into one of Tee Set’s Premier competitions – and many would argue the most pure and fun form of the game of golf,

Imperial Gold Club

Next week sees our very first Monthly Medal at Imperial Golf Klub, the first of six and, in addition to the Monthly Medal prizes, we will also be competing for the “eclectic format” Imperial Champion and place getters over the six-week period. We may even remember to bring the Closest to the Pin and Longest Drive banners.

An “eclectic” tournament is a multi-round golf tournament that results in one 18-hole score per player. Each golfer plays X number of rounds and compares his or her score on each hole per round. The lowest score made on each hole is recorded, producing an 18-hole score.  So the more rounds you play the more chance you have of lowering your score on a particular hole.

You would therefore record an eclectic score of 4 on that hole.  Your handicap would be applied to your combined eclectic score for the full 18 holes. The winner and place are determined by, well, we are sure you can guess …
